Bemidbar (Numbers) 28

Lesson date: 4/8/5857AA

In reading Chapter 28 you have to ask yourself, “Why is YHVH repeating the sacrifices now?” And the answer would be, “Because the old generation has died out that performed the sacrifices around Mt. Sinai and need to hear this instruction for the “new” generation of the Children of Yisra’el.” Remember, at this time, the generation of Yisra’elite men have not even been circumcised and won’t be until after they cross the Jordan River and enter into the Promised Land.

Verses 1-2 – the word for “command” is H6680 – צוה – tsâvâh – BDB Definition: 1) to command, charge, give orders, lay charge, give charge to, order. This word is a military term to show Continue reading Bemidbar (Numbers) 28

Bemidbar (Numbers) 30

Lesson date: 2/11/5854AA

Num 30:1  And Mosheh spoke to the heads of the tribes concerning the children of Yisra’ĕl, saying, “This is the word which יהוה has commanded:

From this first verse of scripture I want to look at 2 words; tribes and commanded.

The Hebrew word for tribes is – ‘ha-mattoth’ – which is the plural of the word (‘ha’ just means ‘the’) מַּטָּּה mattah – Strong’s H4294 meaning, a staff, rod, branch, a tribe, a branch of a vinewhich comes from the primitive root נָּטָּה natah – Strong’s H5186 meaning, to stretch out, spread out, extend, incline. This word is for all the ‘tribes’ (branches) of Yisra’ĕl – all who have ‘spread out’. Why is this important?

Verses 1-2 – The above phrase is “Naqam neqamat” ((H5358 – H5360)) which means “take vengeance”. Idt is a command. If you read Verse 2 carefully YHVH is telling Mosheh, “Mosheh, I have one last assignment for you before you die, take vengeance on the Midyanites: Deu 32:35 Vengeance is Mine, and repayment, At the time their foot slips; For near is the day of their calamity, And the matters prepared are hastening to them.’

Vengeance is according to YHVH’s timing, not ours.

I can’t go into all the details but, in March of 1981, only weeks after President Reagan was sworn into office, there was an assassination attempt on President Reagan and I went into a hissy fit about George H.W. (Short for Hell is Waiting) Bush wanting to assassinate Reagan to be President in order to institute is evil agenda. My dad very patiently listened to me and went I was tired or out of breath he told me, “Son, I know you know all this is true but one day the Great Equalizer is coming Continue reading Bemidbar (Numbers) 31

Bemidbar (Numbers) 32 — Keep Going? Or, Settle Down? A.K.A. “Are we there yet?”

Lesson date: 04/22/5857AA

This chapter speaks to me today in a special way and so I have treated this chapter differently than the rest. It causes me to reflect on my past and, believe me, it’s not pretty. It causes me to actually dig into my memories and emotions and root out my motivation for doing certain things in my life when I did. Was my motivation because of much prayer, fasting and meditation or because…well, it looks good to me? Unfortunately, many life altering decisions were predicated on the category of “Looks good to me and, oh, I’ll pray about it later, if I get time.”

The decision reached by the tribes of Gad and Re’uben may have been made after much prayer and meditation and after each receiving 55,000+ sheep, 6,000 cattle and 5,000 donkeys from the war on the Midyanites, plus what they already had. Perhaps, in all fairness to Gad and Re’uben, they sat down for a pow wow and reached the decision, “You know, if we didn’t have to dedicate so much manpower to herding thousands upon thousands of sheep, goats, donkeys and cattle we could concentrate on fighting better.” Someone may have even chimed in, “Yeah, and if we didn’t have all these kids and women to worry about too, we could do some real fighting and killing.” Do you think this is what they really thought? Bemidbar (Numbers) 33

Lesson date:2/25/5854

Departures = מַסְעֵי “masei/masey” meaning, ‘departures, stages, journeys’, and comes from the root word מַסַע massa – Strong’s H4550 which means, ‘a pulling up, breaking (camp), setting out, a journey, order of march’ and this comes from the primitive root נָסַע nasa – Strong’s H5265 meaning, ‘to pull out or up, set out on a journey, departed’. The connotation for the usage of this verb is to pull up the stakes of the tents to depart. The popular phrase in the American Civil War was “strike the tents”, which was also some of the last words uttered by Robert E. Lee. This word brings to mind another word seen often in scripture ‘sojourner’. We are just sojourners in this world and should not be a part of it. Continue reading Bemidbar (Numbers) 33

Bemidbar (Numbers) 34 — Stay within the Boundaries

Lesson date: 3/3/5854AA
42nd Day of Counting the Omer

Verse 2 begins with Command – H6680 – צוה – tsâvâh -BDB Definition: 1) to command, charge, give orders, lay charge, give charge to, order. If you will do a search in E-Sword or similar program on H6680 you will see something very interesting. It is almost always followed by H853 – את – which, as we have discussed is a prophetic marker rather than being a translatable word. There is speculation among Hebrew scholars that the ancient meaning associated with the word was ‘come’ based upon its appearance in the quote for the Book of Battles of יהוה, in Numbers 21:14-20. I don’t believe this to be the case because of the quote from יהוה in verse 16: “Gather the people, and let Me give them water.” I believe this is a direct reference to the coming of Yeshua. Hmm, maybe that is what they meant to say.

Bemidbar (Numbers) 35 — Cities for the Lewites and Cities of Refuge

Lesson date: 3/3/5854AA
Day 43 of the Counting of the Omer

The Lěwites received no inheritance of their own and were allotted cities to dwell in from within the inheritance of each tribe and the land they were to receive was to be a substantial size to be for their cattle, livestock and possessions. Each city with its open land for livestock was to be an area of about 1,78km x 1,78km

Notice that the meanings are diametrically opposed to each other. The KJV makes it appear as though these two names are the same and they are not.

Milkah – H4435 – מלכּה – milkâh – BDB Definition: Milcah = queen.

It’s About TIME!

Lesson date: 09/12/5859AA

About the only time people think about time is when they have too little of it to do what they desire, want or need(?) to do. One of my favorite questions that I ask people relative to time is: “How many people on their death bed wish they had enough time to spend one more day at work?” I can think of a lot of things that I wish I had the time to do besides go to work, i.e. make love to your mate, hold your children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren one more time and tell them that you love them, or perhaps to make a decision to serve YHVH just one time like He desires us to do. I think any or all of these would be preferable to going to work.

Wayyiqra (Leviticus) 1-3

Lesson date: 04/13/5856AA

Chapter 1

Verse 1 – Wayyiqra – H7121 – from qara – “And He called”. This is the fourth time we see this word used with reference to Mosheh.

1.= Exo 3:4 And יהוה saw that he turned aside to see, and Elohim called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Mosheh! Mosheh!” And he said, “Here I am.”

YHVH calls out to Mosheh to establish a relationship with him and teaches Mosheh His Name.

2.= Exo 19:3 And Mosheh went up to Elohim, and יהוה called to him from the mountain, saying, “This is what you are to say to the house of Ya‛aqoḇ, and declare to the children of Yisra’ěl:

Exo 19:4 ‘You have seen what I did to the Mitsrites, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself. Continue reading Wayyiqra (Leviticus) 1-3
