Shemoth (Exodus) 28

Lesson date: 1/17/5856AA

Verse 1 – How many people noticed the odd break in Chapter 27 last week. The chapter talked about the Bronze Altar/Slaughter Place and then the Outer Court where the Bronze Altar was located. Then it suddenly jumps to the olive oil for the Menorah. Why? We find the meaning to that question in verse 1. Aharon’s name means “Light-Bringer” and you cannot have light without oil. Who is the Light? And, who is the Oil? Continue reading Shemoth (Exodus) 28

Shemoth (Exodus) 29

Lesson date: 1/24/5856AA

Verse 1 – Immediately, we see a type and shadow of the Messiah in Mosheh. Aharon and his sons cannot set themselves apart but it takes a Mediator between Aharon and his sons and YHVH for them to be set apart. Like Aharon and his sons, we require a Mediator in order for us to be set-apart as priest to YHVH: 1Ti 2:5 For there is one Elohim, and one Mediator between Elohim and men, the Man Messiah יהושע,

1Pe 2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a set-apart nation, a people for a possession, that you should proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light, Continue reading Shemoth (Exodus) 29

Shemoth (Exodus) 30

Lesson date:2/1/5856AA

Verses 1-10 – Whoa! I had to ask myself, “what just happened?” We started at the Holy of Holies and moved outward and now, all of a sudden, we are back in the Set-Apart Place, directly in front of the veil that separates the Set-Apart Place from the Most Set-Apart Place. Why were we not given the details of the Golden Altar of Incense before we went outside into the inner courtyard?

Then these verses of Scripture came to mind: Mat_27:51 And see, the veil of the Dwelling Place was torn in two from top to bottom, and the earth was shaken, and the rocks were split, Continue reading Shemoth (Exodus) 30

Shemoth (Exodus) 31

Lesson date: 2/8/5856AA

Verses 1-6 – Think about how many times we have read verse 1 and never thought to look up the names of each person. The phrase, “See, I have called by name,” is trying to get us to  focus our attention on their names. It is almost as if YHVH is saying, “I will give you a clue…”

  • H1212 – בּצלאל – betsal’êl – BDB Definition: Betz-al-el = “in the shadow (i.e. protection) of El”
  • H221 – אוּרי – ‘ûrı̂y – BDB Definition: Uri = “fiery”
  • H2354 – חוּר – chûr – BDB Definition: Hur = absolutely white linen
  • H3063 – יְהוּדָה – yehûdâh – yeh-hoo-daw’ – From H3034; celebrated; praised

Now put it together: He is In the Protection of El, the fiery one, in absolutely white linen, is to be praised. Continue reading Shemoth (Exodus) 31

Shemoth (Exodus) 32

Lesson date: 2/15/5856AA

Verse 1 – The first thing we must look at is the role of Mosheh: Mat_8:4 And יהושע said to him, “See, mention it to no one. But go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Mosheh commanded, as a witness to them.”

Mat_19:7 They said to Him, “Why then did Mosheh command to give a certificate of divorce, and to put her away?”

Mat_22:24 saying, “Teacher, Mosheh said that if anyone should die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife and raise offspring for his brother.

Mat_23:2 saying, “The scribes and the Pharisees sit on the seat of Mosheh.

Act_15:21 “For from ancient generations Mosheh has, in every city, those proclaiming him – being read in the congregations every Sabbath.”

Rom_10:19 But I ask, Did Yisra’ěl not know? First Mosheh says, “I shall provoke you to jealousy by those who are not a nation, I shall enrage you by an unwise nation.”

What is really being said here in the opening of verse 1? Continue reading Shemoth (Exodus) 32

Shemoth (Exodus) 33

Lesson date: 2/22/5856AA

Verse 1 – Put verse 1 in the context Mosheh = Torah and what you have is that Torah brought the people out of the land of Mitsrayim, the land of bondage. He took us out of the land of bondage, Mitrrayim, Egypt, Babylon and brought into the Wilderness, to teach us and train us so that now He can bring us to the Land of our inheritance. Without learning to walk in His Way, the Torah of Freedom, we are just an undisciplined mob, some going one way and others another: Jas_1:25 But he that looked into the perfect Torah, that of freedom, and continues in it, not becoming a hearer that forgets, but a doer of work, this one shall be blessed in his doing of the Torah.

Jas_2:12 So speak and so do as those who are to be judged by a Torah of freedom.

I often look upon being a follower of Torah as being in the military. It takes 8 weeks of intensive training for you to learn the very basics of military life. Continue reading Shemoth (Exodus) 33

Shemoth (Exodus) 34

Verse 1 – I don’t know about anyone else but, I can identify with verse 1. Dad would tell me, “Son, I’ll show you how to do it the first time, but after that you’ll have to do it for yourself.” Sometimes I would get it right the first time but sometimes I would make a mistake and have to start over. I feel like YHVH was teaching Mosheh the same lesson my Dad tried to teach me, you’ll remember and appreciate it more if you have to do it on your own:  Pro 3:3 Let not loving-commitment and truth forsake you – Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart,

Pro 3:4 Thus finding favour and good insight In the eyes of Elohim and man.

Pro 7:2 Guard my commands and live, And my Torah as the apple of your eye.

Pro 7:3 Bind them on your fingers; Write them on the tablet of your heart.

Mosheh was learning a lesson, “You broke it, you fix it.” And, another lesson Continue reading Shemoth (Exodus) 34

Shemoth (Exodus) 35

Lesson date: 03/06/5856AA

Verse 1 – “And (He)Moshe assembled” וַיַקְהֵל ((And he assembled)) the root word being qahal. In the LXX we see the word συναθροίζωG4867sunathroizō used as a helping verb meaning to “call out or called out” and the word for congregation is συναγωγήG4864sunagōg – synogogue congregation or assembly used in this instance for assembly or congregation. Another Greek word often used to mean congregation or assembly is ἐκκλησίαG1577ekklēsia – “a calling out or a meeting”. Qahal and ekklesia both represent the Bride and do not mean a building whereas sunagoge can mean a building.

I recently found a quote from Josephus which finally tells us which language the B’rit Hadasha was written. Remember, Josephus, born a Jew in A.D. 37 rose to the rank of general, he was the son of a Levitical priest and became a Pharisee as a teenager Continue reading Shemoth (Exodus) 35

Shemoth (Exodus) 36

Lesson date: 03/13/5856AA

Verse 1-4 – Betsa’el son of Uri, son of Hur from the tribe of Judah = the one in the Shadow of El, who is my light, who is absolutely white, is to be praised!

Mar_9:3 And His garments became glittering, exceedingly white, like snow, such as no launderer on earth is able to whiten.

And, Oholiab, son of Ahisamak, from the tribe of Dan = In my Father’s Tent, which my Brother has supported, and He is the Judge.

Joh 14:2 “In My Father’s house are many staying places. And if not, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

Pro 24:3 By wisdom a house is built, And by understanding it is established;

Pro 24:4 And by knowledge the rooms are filled With all precious and pleasant riches.

…and every wise-hearted man: Pro 9:10 The fear of יהוה is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Set-apart One is understanding. Continue reading Shemoth (Exodus) 36

Shemoth (Genesis) 37 — Inside and Out

Lesson date: 10/2/5859AA

Immediately, and I mean immediately, something hit me for the first time that, for some unknown reason, never had before. Let me show you:

Beautiful isn’t it? Is it beautiful because it is made of gold or is it beautiful because of what it represents? It is the resting place of our broken Ketubah, the one that Mosheh broke upon coming down the mountain with Torah in his hands closely followed by Yehoshu’a. Continue reading Shemoth (Genesis) 37 — Inside and Out
