Shemoth (Exodus) 25

Lesson date: 12/26/5855AA

Verses 1-2 –  YHVH instructs Mosheh to have the Children of Yisra’el to give Him a voluntary gift – terumah – H8641 – a contribution, gift, set as special special. Who is responsible for giving the gift? Everyone whose heart – leb -H3820** – heart, inner man, mind, will – moves- Nadab – H5068 generous, willingness, desire, eagerness and also the Name of Aharon’s sons who died for offering profane fire. In this case we see that the man did not live up to the measure of his name. The idea of the contribution is above and beyond Continue reading Shemoth (Exodus) 25

Shemoth (Exodus) 26

Lesson date: 1/03/5856AA

Today I will do things a little differently, in that I will not treat each verse separately because of the nature of this chapter. I will post, or try to post, an artist’s conception of the Dwelling Place which is being described. In last week’s study guide I gave you some drawings and by putting the two sets together we can get a very good idea of how the Dwelling Place may have looked. Also, if you watch the Youtube video by Sarah Lieberman, Fire of your Spirit, it too will give you a very good idea what the Dwelling Place must have looked like as it was filmed at the Tabernacle in Israel. Shemoth (Exodus) 27

Lesson date: 1/10/5856AA

I will borrow the image from the study guide of last week to show the approximate placement of the bronze slaughter place within the courtyard

Just to the left, facing the slaughter place or altar in the painting would be the gate/entrance into the courtyard.

Verses 1-8 – As I have mentioned before, and this is my opinion, not established fact, I believe that Mosheh used the measure of the “royal” cubit a/k/a the “extended” cubit in the construction of the dwelling place and everything associated with it. Why? The royal cubit was the primary measure in Egypt and with Mosheh’s training in the royal court and also military he would have been more familiar with the use of the royal cubit. I believe that it fell out use after Mosheh and Yehoshua’s deaths and the Children of Yisra’el began using the shorter or standard cubit afterward. The resulting difference in length and width of the cubit would total 8.5 feet rather than 7.5 feet and its height would have been 5.1 feet rather than 4.5 feet. Also, I believe that the use of the royal cubit was so unfamiliar to the Children of Yisra’el by Ezekiel’s time that YHVH had to specify its length in Ezekiel 40:5 & 43:13. Verse 1 – How many people noticed the odd break in Chapter 27 last week. The chapter talked about the Bronze Altar/Slaughter Place and then the Outer Court where the Bronze Altar was located. Then it suddenly jumps to the olive oil for the Menorah. Why? We find the meaning to that question in verse 1. Aharon’s name means “Light-Bringer” and you cannot have light without oil. Who is the Light? And, who is the Oil? Continue reading Shemoth (Exodus) 28

Shemoth (Exodus) 29

Lesson date: 1/24/5856AA

Verse 1 – Immediately, we see a type and shadow of the Messiah in Mosheh. Aharon and his sons cannot set themselves apart but it takes a Mediator between Aharon and his sons and YHVH for them to be set apart. Like Aharon and his sons, we require a Mediator in order for us to be set-apart as priest to YHVH: 1Ti 2:5 For there is one Elohim, and one Mediator between Elohim and men, the Man Messiah יהושע,

1Pe 2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a set-apart nation, a people for a possession, that you should proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light, Continue reading Shemoth (Exodus) 29

Shemoth (Exodus) 30

Lesson date:2/1/5856AA

Verses 1-10 – Whoa! I had to ask myself, “what just happened?” We started at the Holy of Holies and moved outward and now, all of a sudden, we are back in the Set-Apart Place, directly in front of the veil that separates the Set-Apart Place from the Most Set-Apart Place. Why were we not given the details of the Golden Altar of Incense before we went outside into the inner courtyard?

Then these verses of Scripture came to mind: Mat_27:51 And see, the veil of the Dwelling Place was torn in two from top to bottom, and the earth was shaken, and the rocks were split, Continue reading Shemoth (Exodus) 30

Verses 1-6 – Think about how many times we have read verse 1 and never thought to look up the names of each person. The phrase, “See, I have called by name,” is trying to get us to  focus our attention on their names. It is almost as if YHVH is saying, “I will give you a clue…”

  • H1212 – בּצלאל – betsal’êl – BDB Definition: Betz-al-el = “in the shadow (i.e. protection) of El”
  • H221 – אוּרי – ‘ûrı̂y – BDB Definition: Uri = “fiery”
  • H2354 – חוּר – chûr – BDB Definition: Hur = absolutely white linen
  • H3063 – יְהוּדָה – yehûdâh – yeh-hoo-daw’ – From H3034; celebrated; praised

Now put it together: He is In the Protection of El, the fiery one, in absolutely white linen, is to be praised. Continue reading Shemoth (Exodus) 31

Shemoth (Exodus) 32

Lesson date: 2/15/5856AA

Verse 1 – The first thing we must look at is the role of Mosheh: Mat_8:4 And יהושע said to him, “See, mention it to no one. But go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Mosheh commanded, as a witness to them.”

Mat_19:7 They said to Him, “Why then did Mosheh command to give a certificate of divorce, and to put her away?”

Mat_22:24 saying, “Teacher, Mosheh said that if anyone should die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife and raise offspring for his brother.

Mat_23:2 saying, “The scribes and the Pharisees sit on the seat of Mosheh.

Act_15:21 “For from ancient generations Mosheh has, in every city, those proclaiming him – being read in the congregations every Sabbath.”

Rom_10:19 But I ask, Did Yisra’ěl not know? First Mosheh says, “I shall provoke you to jealousy by those who are not a nation, I shall enrage you by an unwise nation.”

What is really being said here in the opening of verse 1? Continue reading Shemoth (Exodus) 32

Lesson date: 2/22/5856AA

Verse 1 – Put verse 1 in the context Mosheh = Torah and what you have is that Torah brought the people out of the land of Mitsrayim, the land of bondage. He took us out of the land of bondage, Mitrrayim, Egypt, Babylon and brought into the Wilderness, to teach us and train us so that now He can bring us to the Land of our inheritance. Without learning to walk in His Way, the Torah of Freedom, we are just an undisciplined mob, some going one way and others another: Jas_1:25 But he that looked into the perfect Torah, that of freedom, and continues in it, not becoming a hearer that forgets, but a doer of work, this one shall be blessed in his doing of the Torah.

Jas_2:12 So speak and so do as those who are to be judged by a Torah of freedom.

I often look upon being a follower of Torah as being in the military. It takes 8 weeks of intensive training for you to learn the very basics of military life. Continue reading Shemoth (Exodus) 33

Shemoth (Exodus) 34

Verse 1 – I don’t know about anyone else but, I can identify with verse 1. Dad would tell me, “Son, I’ll show you how to do it the first time, but after that you’ll have to do it for yourself.” Sometimes I would get it right the first time but sometimes I would make a mistake and have to start over. I feel like YHVH was teaching Mosheh the same lesson my Dad tried to teach me, you’ll remember and appreciate it more if you have to do it on your own:  Pro 3:3 Let not loving-commitment and truth forsake you – Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart,

Pro 3:4 Thus finding favour and good insight In the eyes of Elohim and man.

Pro 7:2 Guard my commands and live, And my Torah as the apple of your eye.

Pro 7:3 Bind them on your fingers; Write them on the tablet of your heart.

Mosheh was learning a lesson, “You broke it, you fix it.” And, another lesson Continue reading Shemoth (Exodus) 34
