Debarim (Deuteronomy) 12

Lesson date: 5/21/5854AA

Verse 1 – Where have we heard this before: which you guard to do in the land which יהוה Elohim of your fathers is giving you to possess, all the days that you live on the soil”

statutes – H2706 – חֹק -choq khoke – From H2710; an enactment; hence an appointment (of time, space, quantity, labor or usage): – appointed, bound, commandment, convenient, custom, decree (-d), due, law, measure, X necessary, ordinance (-nary), portion, set time, statute, task.

judgments,H4941 משׁפּט – mishpâṭ – From H8199; properly a verdict (favorable or unfavorable)

H8104 – shamar – guard, to do

Why did Mosheh present this theme over and over? Was it because it was important? Was it because the Yisraelites were simple minded? Or, is it because we want to do those things we like and we use scripture to justify our actions? What did Yeshua say: Mat 5:18  “For truly, I say to you, till the heaven and the earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall by no means pass from the Torah till all be done.”

Has heaven passed away? Has the Earth passed away? Then maybe, just maybe, Torah has not passed away, either. This should be the scariest verse of scripture for a modern day Christian: Mat 7:22  “Many shall say to Me in that day, ‘Master, Master, have we not prophesied in Your Name, and cast out demons in Your Name, and done many mighty works in Your Name?’

Mat 7:23  “And then I shall declare to them, ‘I never knew you, depart from Me, you who work lawlessness!’.

Have you ever prophesied in Jesus name? Have you ever cast out demons in Jesus name? Have you ever done mighty works, you know, like resurrecting the dead, walked on water, that kind of stuff, in Jesus name? No?

What is the word for Torah in Greek? G3551 – νόμος – nomos – nom’-os – From a primary word νέμω nemō (to parcel out, especially food or grazing to animals); law (through the idea of prescriptive usage), generally (regulation), specifically (of Moses [including the volume]; also of the Gospel), or figuratively (a principle): – law.

What is lawlessness or iniquity in Greek? All you have to do is add an -a- G458 – ἀνομίαanomia – an-om-ee’-ah – From G459; illegality, that is, violation of law or (generally) wickedness: – iniquity, X transgress (-ion of) the law, unrighteousness.

All those who work great miracles in the name of Jesus but do not teach Torah need to think about this.

Verse 2 – אַבֵד תְָאַבְדוּן – abeḏ teabeḏun – and consists of a repeat of the root word אָבַד aḇaḏ – Strong’s H6 which means, to perish, destroy, lose, put to death, blot out, do away with, to give up as lost, vanish, be lost or strayed’.

This is what the passage looks like from the KJV+ : Deu 12:2 Ye shall utterly destroyH6 H6 (H853) allH3605 the places,H4725 whereinH834 H8033 the nationsH1471 whichH834 (H853) yeH859 shall possessH3423 servedH5647 (H853) their gods,H430 uponH5921 the highH7311 mountains,H2022 and uponH5921 the hills,H1389 and underH8478 everyH3605 greenH7488 tree:H6086

You think it is a coincidence that H853 appears three (3) times in this verse?

What did Yeshua do? He came to save us from our sin. What was our sin? Adultery! We served other gods. Why did He die the way He did? Because He died like the adulterous bride.

The Wife (Israel) Who Commits Adultery:

  1. Write curses in a book: Number 5:23 (Exodus 32:19-20)
  2.  Must drink bitter water: Numbers 5:24 (Exodus 32:19-20)
  3. Slain with a sword (blade): Ezekiel 16:38-40; 23:47; (Exodus 32:26-28)
  4. Forsaken by husband: Deuteronomy 31:16-17
  5. Husband hides his face from wife: Deu. 31:18; Isa. 8:17; 54:8
  6. Stripped naked: Hosea 2:2-3; Ezekiel 23:22,26
  7. Slain with thirst: Hosea 2:2-3
  8. Laughed to scorn: Ezekiel 23:32
  9. Mocked: 2 Kings 19:21; Isaiah 37:22
  10. Cast lots: Joel 3:3; Obadiah 1:11

Yeshua Taking On the Sin of the Unfaithful Wife:

  1. Blotting out curses: Col. 2:14; Gal.3:13
  2. Drink the bitter cup: Matt. 26:42; 27:48
  3. Pierced with a blade (spear) John 19:34
  4. Forsaken: Matt. 27:46
  5. Hid His Face: Matt. 27:45 (Darkness representing YHVH turning His Face)
  6. Stripped naked: Matt. 27:28
  7. Thirst: John 19:28
  8. Laughed to scorn: Matt. 9:24; Mark 5:40; Luke 8:53
  9. Mocked: Matt. 27:31; Luke 23:36
  10. Cast lots: Matt. 27:35; Luke 23:34: John 19:24

What is really amazing to me is that we (Yisrael) are told to destroy these things, but we go into museums and see that they have been painstakingly restored and on display. ISIS was criticized for destroying the temple of Ba’al in Palmyra but that is exactly what we should have done.

I want to extract 7 words from Deuteronomy 12:2: their gods … from under every green tree. The Hebrew word used in B’osorot Matti for cross is H6086 – עץ – ‛êtsBDB Definition:1) tree, wood, timber, stock, plank, stalk, stick, gallows 1a) tree, trees 1b) wood, pieces of wood, gallows, firewood, cedar-wood, woody flax

Just something to think about.

Verse 3 – This is where it really gets interesting: Deu 12:3  And ye shall overthrowH5422 (H853) their altars,H4196 and breakH7665 (H853) their pillars,H4676 and burnH8313 their grovesH842 with fire;H784 and ye shall hew downH1438 the graven imagesH6456 of their gods,H430 and destroyH6 (H853) the namesH8034 of them out ofH4480 thatH1931 place.H4725

Did you notice the word Groves (H842) above? Groves of green trees. The word in the ISR is Asherim, which refers Astarte/Ishtar. You know, the one Easter is named for.

Jer 10:3  “For the prescribed customs of these peoples are worthless, for one cuts a tree from the forest, work for the hands of a craftsman with a cutting tool.

Jer 10:4  “They adorn it with silver and gold, they fasten it with nails and hammers so that it does not topple.

Jer 10:5  “They are like a rounded post, and they do not speak. They have to be carried, because they do not walk. Do not be afraid of them, for they do no evil, nor is it in them to do any good.”

See the word ‘afraid’ :H3372 – ירא – yârê’BDB Definition: 1) to fear, revere, be afraid: Pro 9:10  The fear of יהוה is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Set-apart One is understanding.

Yep, same word, H3372 in a different verb form, H3374.

Verse 4 – This is where it gets bad: Deu 12:4  “Do not do so to יהוה your Elohim, This shows us that we cannot name a tree, say, Christmas, and proclaim that we are doing it to revere YHVH or Yeshua, you know, Christ. But what about X-mas? Nope! X is a Christogram that represents Christ. It is proper to write Xtian for Christian and Xmas for Christmas: the letter Chi used to abbreviate the name of Christ, (source Wikipedia).

Verse 5 – seek His Dwelling Place. 1Co_3:16  Do you not know that you are a Dwelling Place of Elohim and that the Spirit of Elohim dwells in you?

1Co_6:19  Or do you not know that your body is the Dwelling Place of the Set-apart Spirit who is in you, which you have from Elohim, and you are not your own?

Verse 6 – Ascending offerings: Romiyim/Romans 12:1-2 “I call upon you, therefore, brothers, thro the compassion of Elohim, to present your bodies a living offering – set-apart, well-pleasing to Elohimugh – your reasonable worship. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you prove what is that good and well-pleasing and perfect desire of Elohim.”

Slaughters: Tehillah/Psalm 4:5 “Offer slaughterings of righteousness, and trust in יהוה .”

Tehillah/Psalm 107:22 “And let them bring slaughterings of thanksgiving, and relate His works with rejoicing.” Tehillah/Psalm 116:17 “I bring You a slaughtering of thanksgiving, and call upon the Name of יהוה .”

Iḇ’rim/Hebrews 13:15 “Through Him then, let us continually offer up a slaughter offering of praise to Elohim, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His Name.”

Tithes: Iḇ’rim/Hebrews 7:4-6 “Now see how great this one was, to whom even the ancestor Aḇraham gave a tenth of the choicest booty. 5 And truly, those who are of the sons of Lĕwi, who receive the priesthood, have a command to receive tithes from the people according to the Torah, that is, from their brothers, though they have come from the loins of Aḇraham, 6 however, the one whose genealogy is not derived from them received tithes from Aḇraham, and blessed the one who held the promises.”

Contributions: This word in Hebrew is Terumah but in Greek it is euche – yoo-kay G2171 and is found here in the NT: Jas 5:15  And the prayer of the belief shall save the sick, and the Master shall raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he shall be forgiven.

Vowed Offerings: Act 5:1  But a certain man named Ḥananyah, with Shappirah his wife, sold a possession.

Act 5:2  And he kept back from the price, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the feet of the emissaries.

Act 5:3  But Kĕpha said, “Hananyah, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Set-apart Spirit and keep back from the price of the land for yourself?

Act 5:4  “While it remained, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your authority? Why have you conceived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men but to Elohim.”

Act 5:5  Then Ḥananyah, hearing these words, fell down and breathed his last. And great fear came upon all those who heard of this.

The moral of the story is: if you make a vow, keep it!

Voluntary Offerings: This is very interesting when you convert the Hebrew to Greek. The word here is homologeia. Remember this word? Rom 10:9  That if you confess with your mouth the Master יהושע and believe in your heart that Elohim has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.

The word confess should have been translated COVENANT. The word means to covenant with your mouth.

Firstlings: Don’t have sheep? Oxen? How about a son or daughter?

Verse 7 – What is happening here? It is a covenant meal. Exo 24:9  And Mosheh went up, also Aharon, Naḏaḇ, and Aḇihu, and seventy of the elders of Yisra’ĕl,

Exo 24:10  and they saw the Elohim of Yisra’ĕl, and under His feet like a paved work of sapphire stone, and like the heavens for brightness.

Exo 24:11  Yet He did not stretch out His hand against the chiefs of the children of Yisra’ĕl! And they saw Elohim, and they ate and drank.

A covenant meal: Luk_22:19  And taking bread, giving thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you, do this in remembrance of Me.”

1Co 11:23  For I received from the Master that which I also delivered to you: that the Master יהושע in the night in which He was delivered up took bread,

1Co 11:24  and having given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat, this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”

1Co 11:25  In the same way also the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the renewed covenant in My blood. As often as you drink it, do this in remembrance of Me.”

1Co 11:26  For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the death of the Master until He comes.

1Co 11:27  So that whoever should eat this bread or drink this cup of the Master unworthily shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Master.

A covenant meal.

Verse 8 – Shophetim/Judges 17:6 “In those days there was no sovereign in Yisra’ĕl – everyone did what was right in his own eyes.”

Shophetim/Judges 21:25 “In those days there was no sovereign in Yisra’ĕl – everyone did what was right in his own eyes.”

Do we have a sovereign in our heart? Are we doing as He commanded? Rev 19:16  And on His robe and on His thigh ((Remember, this word is not thigh but banner.)) He has a name written: SOVEREIGN OF SOVEREIGNS AND MASTER OF MASTERS.

Verse 9 – The word for ‘rest’ is very important. Once again we are reminded that all of this that we do is tied to a wedding covenant: H4496 – מְנֻחָה  מְנוּחָה – menûchâh  menûchâhmen-oo-khaw’, men-oo-khaw’ Feminine of H4495; repose or (adverbially) peacefully; figuratively consolation (specifically matrimony);

Heb 4:8  For if Yehoshua had given them rest, He would not have spoken of another day after that.

Heb 4:9  So there remains a Sabbath-keeping for the people of Elohim.

Remember, each sabbath we renew our covenant with YHVH. What kind of covenant is it? A marriage covenant.

Verse 10 – Deu 12:10  But when ye go over H5674 (H853)

H5684 is ‘abar which is the word we get Hebrew from; to pass over, to cross.

Verse 11-  יהוה your Elohim chooses to make His Name dwell there,

Num 6:27  “Thus they shall put My Name on the children of Yisra’ĕl, and I Myself shall bless them.”

Verse 13 – Don’t go ‘willy-nilly’ searching for truth here and there. Torah is truth!

Neh_9:13  “And You came down on Mount Sinai, and spoke with them from the heavens, and gave them straight right-rulings and Torah of truth, good laws and commands.

Psa_119:142  Your righteousness is righteousness forever, And Your Torah is truth.

Dan_9:13  “As it is written in the Torah of Mosheh, all this evil has come upon us, and we have not entreated the face of יהוה our Elohim, to turn back from our crookednesses, and to study Your truth.

Mal_2:6  “The Torah of truth was in his mouth, and unrighteousness was not found on his lips. He walked with Me in peace and straightness, and turned many away from crookedness.

Verse 15 –  Please don’t misunderstand what is being spoken of here. He is not saying clean and unclean food. Both the deer and the gazelle are clean food. He is talking about clean and unclean people. This is why people ((willingly)) misunderstand Peter’s (Kepha) dream. It had nothing to do with food but with people.

Act 10:28  And he said to them, “You know that a Yehudite man is not allowed to associate with, or go to one of another race. But Elohim has shown me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

It has nothing to do with food. Nothing!

Act 11:17  “So if Elohim gave them the same gift as He gave us when we believed on the Master יהושע Messiah, how was I able to withstand Elohim?”

Act 11:18  And having heard this, they were silent, and praised Elohim, saying, “Then Elohim has indeed also given to the gentiles repentance to life.”

Nothing!

Verse 16 – All those nice thick, juicy, bloody steaks you like to eat… Gen 9:4  “But do not eat flesh with its life, its blood.

Lev 17:14  for it is the life of all flesh. Its blood is for its life. And I said to the children of Yisra’ĕl, ‘Do not eat the blood of any flesh, for the life of all flesh is its blood. Anyone eating it is cut off.’

Verses 17-21 – Instructs us to be obedient in all of our vows.

Verse 22 – Once again speaks of clean and unclean people eating of the deer and the gazelle.

Verse 23-24 – Reinforces the fact we should not eat of the blood. Why not? Because the hormones that the body produces in death are in the blood. That is why the blood should be drained from the body. When I kill a deer I hang it upside down to clean it and let the blood run out of the body. Then I cut the body into major portions and soak them overnight in a tub of water to draw even more blood out. Dr. Lorraine Day did fantastic research about the correlation between the hormones at the time of death and cancer. Is it no wonder America is land of cancer.

Pouring the the blood out like water is also why we should keep the sabbatical year, to let the land rest.

Verse 25 – This is the promise for being obedient to YHVH’s Word.

Verse 28 – Why is Mosheh repeating himself over and over? A touch of Alzheimer’s? No, because he knew we would not listen to him.

Verse 30 – Why doesn’t the modern church keep the Sabbath? Because the Council  of Laodicea told them not to. Is Laodicea a church you ought to be following?

Verse 31 – We won’t go there right now.

Lesson date: 08/30/5857AA

There is so much going on in this chapter that it will be hard to do it justice. Or, maybe, it is obvious that this is the same Chapter 12 we have looked at before so, is it possible that my POV (Point Of View) has changed or grown? I pray with thanksgiving that is so.

Verse 1 – Why is YHVH always saying this? Over and over He tells us to guard His Commands, why? Could it be that He Knew we would find a reason not to? Joh_14:15 “If you love Me, you shall guard My commands. (See also Joh_14:21 and Joh_14:23, Exo_20:6, 1Jn_5:2-3 and 2Jn_1:6.)

Rev 12:17 And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to fight with the remnant of her seed, those guarding the commands of Elohim and possessing the witness of יהושע Messiah.

Rev_14:12 Here is the endurance of the set-apart ones, here are those guarding the commands of Elohim and the belief of יהושע.

Rev 22:12 “And see, I am coming speedily, and My reward is with Me, to give to each according to his work. (Who is coming speedily? Yeshu’a, so it is Yeshu’a speaking.)

Rev 22:13 “I am the ‘Aleph’ and the ‘Taw’, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.

Rev 22:14 “Blessed are those doing His commands, so that the authority shall be theirs unto the tree of life, and to enter through the gates into the city. (Who does “His” reference? YHVH.)

In Revelation 12:17 and 14:12 we see there are two preconditions to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven: First, we must keep the commands of Elohim (That would be Torah which is Yah’s Word (John 1)) and, Second, we must keep the witness or testimony of Yeshu’a. Why, what did Yeshu’a do? He restored the covenant that man broke and caused YHVH to reject/divorce His people, Yisra’el: Isa_50:1 Thus says יהוה, “Where is the certificate of your mother’s divorce, whom I have put away? Or which of My creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Look, you were sold for your crookednesses, and your mother was put away for your transgressions. (This is a rebuke of Yisra’el – Northern 10 Tribes. YHVH’s creditor is Assyria which He raised up to punish Yisra’el.)

Jer_3:8 “And I saw that for all the causes for which backsliding Yisra’ěl had committed adultery, I had put her away and given her a certificate of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Yehuḏah did not fear, but went and committed whoring too.

Commit whoring – H2181 – זָנָה – zânâhzaw-naw’ – A primitive root (highly fed and therefore wanton); to commit adultery (usually of the female, and less often of simple fornication, rarely of involuntary ravishment); figuratively to commit idolatry (the Jewish people being regarded as the spouse of Jehovah): ((This last part is incorrect. It is not the Jewish people but rather Israel. The Northern 10 Tribes went into captivity in 722 B.C. Judaism did not come into being until those of Judah and Benjamin came out of Babylon in 533 B.C. This is a huge mistake in Christian theology. There are only 2 categories of people in Scripture Israel and heathens – goyim.))

(BREN) Deu 32:8  When the Most High divided the nations, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the nations according to the number of the angels of God. (70 angels were chosen for the 70 nations.) ((See also Ps. 82 where YHVH rebukes the angels for ruling badly.))

Deu 32:9  And his people Jacob became the portion of the Lord, Israel was the line of his inheritance.

((Note: The above passage is taken from the Brenton Septuagint or the ABP/ABP+ which was the Scripture used in the B’rit Hadasha quotes. This is exactly the same as the Dead Sea Scroll Bible, both of which are the 2 oldest existing translations of Scripture. Please remember that after the Dead Sea Scroll Bible was written about 200 B.C. And was sealed in a jar around 134 A.D. it was not touched again until the 1940’s when it was rediscovered.))

Exo 4:22 “And you shall say to Pharaoh, ‘Thus said יהוה, “Yisra’ěl is My son, My first-born,

Please accept my apologies because I could go on for 10 or more pages, this is the core message that the church cannot see. Sha’ul tried to get the Romans, Galatians and others to see that if they are not grafted into Israel, there is no hope.

Verse 2 – אַבֵד תְאַבְדוּןabad teabedun – H6 – אבד – ‘âbadBDB Definition: 1) perish, vanish, go astray, be destroyed. If you look closely at the second you can see that I highlighted the root word “abad” in green. By adding the second “abad”, which is written in the piel verb tense, it is adding great emphasis to the idea of destroying – 1b) (Piel) 1b1) to destroy, kill, cause to perish, to give up 1b2) to blot out, do away with, cause to vanish,

Here is something to think about, written in the piel verb tense it can take on the meaning of “blot out” (from your memory), “cause to vanish” (from your remembrance). Look at the photograph below. This is the very famous Pergamon Altar of Zeus in the Berlin Museum. Over a million people a year go to the museum to see the altar. Carl Humann, a German engineer purchased it in 1879 from the Ottoman Turks and shipped it to Berlin, where is was reassembled and has been preserved through two world wars for countless millions to marvel upon. These type things were supposed to be destroyed.

Rev 2:12 “And to the messenger of the assembly in Pergamos write, ‘He who has the sharp two-edged sword, says this:

Rev 2:13 “I know your works, and where you dwell, where the throne of Satan is. And you hold fast to My Name, and did not deny the belief in Me, even in the days in which Antipas was My trustworthy witness, who was killed near you, where Satan dwells.

Many scholars believe, and agree, that the Throne of Satan spoken of in Rev. 2:13 was the altar that is seen above. Does anyone see any problem with this?

This is obvious isn’t it? But here is different situation:

((Quote)) In architecture, a steeple is a tall tower on a building, topped by a spire and often incorporating a belfry and other components. Steeples are very common on Christian churches and cathedrals and the use of the term generally connotes a religious structure. They might be stand-alone structures, or incorporated into the entrance or center of the building.

Towers are a common element of religious architecture worldwide and are generally viewed as attempts to reach skyward toward heavens and the divine.

Gen 11:3 And they said to each other, “Come, let us make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” And they had brick for stone, and they had asphalt for mortar.

Gen 11:4 And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens, and make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered over all the face of the earth.”

What about this? Pagan? Can we find it in any Scripture? We will talk more about this in the next few verses.

Verse 3 – Break down, smash, burn, cut down, and destroy:

1: וְנִתַצְתֶ ם from H5422 – נתץ – nâthatsBDB Definition: 1) to pull down, break down, cast down, throw down, beat down, destroy. This is the word that is used with reference to altars like the one in the picture above.

2: וְשִבַרְתֶ ם from H7665 – שׁברshâbarBDB Definition:1) to break, break in pieces, crush, shatter. This is the word used in reference to pillars. The Hebrew word for pillar is מַצֵבָה – H4676 – pillar, stump, personal memorial, mastaba – If you look this word up in the dictionary you will find it origin is from Aramaic and means an ancient Egyptian tomb with sloping side. This is almost the perfect pronunciation of the Hebrew word used here.

3: תִשְרְפוּן from H8313 – שׂרףśâraph  BDB Definition: 1) to burn. The same word is used to describe “fiery” serpents. This is used in reference to Asherim which were wooden pole, groves of trees planted to worship Asherah, the goddess of fertility.

4: תְגַדֵעוּן  from H1438 – גּדעgâdaBDB Definition: 1) to cut, hew, chop, cut down, hew down, hew off, cut off, cut in two, shave off. This word is used in reference to idols, graven images.

5:  וְאִבַדְתֶם from – H6 – אבדâbadBDB Definition:1) perish, vanish, go astray, be destroyed. This word is used in reference to the names of the pagan mighty ones. You mean like:

  1. January – named for the Roman god Janus;
  2. February name for the festival of purification of the Sabines;
  3. March – named for the god Mars
  4. April – named for the Greek goddess (Aprrillis) Aphrodite;
  5. May – named after the goddess Maia;
  6. June – named after the Roman goddess Juno;
  7. July – named after Roman emperor Julias Caesar who was worshipped as a god;
  8. August – named after another Roman emperor who thought he was god;
  9. September – named after the original 7th month of the lunar calendar;
  10. October – original 8th month of the lunar calendar;
  11. November – original 9th month of the lunar calendar (Which starts tonight);
  12. December – original 10th month of the year;

And then, there are the days of the week. I thought some of those names were to supposed to “vanish”. Hmm.

Verse 4 – DO NOT DO SO TO יהוה (YHVH)!

Verses 5-8 – Search for the place that YHVH wants to be worshipped and He does not want to be worshipped in a repurposed pagan shrine, using pagan symbols, with pagan names. We have discussed, many times the meanings of offerings, slaughters, tithes, contributions, vowed offerings, voluntary offerings, also the importance of the redemption of the first born, and why it is so important to us. Also, if you look closely at verse 7 it shows the importance of community eating and the fellowship that comes from it.

Verse 10 – The promise of “rest”. Here is a curve ball thrown to keep us on guard. The word used is “nuach” – noo-ach – H5117. Look how it occurs in the text – (H853) and He shall give you rest. WOW!

I know you remember this but look: Heb 4:1 Therefore, since a promise remains of entering into His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it.

Heb 4:2 For indeed the Good News was brought to us as well as to them, but the word which they heard did not profit them, not having been mixed with belief in those who heard it.

Heb 4:3 For we who have believed do enter into that rest, as He has said, “As I swore in My wrath, if they shall enter into My rest…” And yet His works have come into being from the foundation of the world.

Heb 4:4 For somewhere He has said thus about the seventh day, “And Elohim rested on the seventh day from all His works,”

Heb 4:5 and in this again, “If they shall enter into My rest…”

Heb 4:6 Since then it remains for some to enter into it, and those who formerly received the Good News did not enter in because of disobedience,

Heb 4:7 He again defines a certain day, “Today,” saying through Dawiḏ so much later, as it has been said, “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.”

Heb 4:8 For if Yehoshua had given them rest, He would not have spoken of another day after that.

Heb 4:9 So there remains a Sabbath-keeping (Greek word used here “sabbitismos” is derived from Hebrew) for the people of Elohim.

Heb 4:10 For the one, having entered into His rest, has himself also rested from his works, as Elohim rested from His own.

Heb 4:11 Let us therefore do our utmost to enter into that rest, lest anyone fall after the same example of disobedience.

Verse 12 – It is not a suggestion that you rejoice it is a command; H8055 – שׂמח – śâmachBDB Definition: 1) to rejoice, be glad. If I send out an email tonight saying Rosh Chodesh Sameach – Happy beginning of the month “samach” is the root word for “sameach” and means happy or rejoice.

Php 4:4 Rejoice in יהוה always, again I say, rejoice!

Verses 13-14 – We are warned to not worship YHVH at every place we see but at a place that He chooses.

Verse 15 – slaughter offering are required to be able to draw near to YHVH. Some people misconstrue this verse when it references clean and unclean. Both the gazelle and the deer are clean animals but they are not prescribed for sacrifices so, they are clean meats but not acceptable for sacrifices. Also, you can eat a blind sheep, a goat with a deformed leg things that you are supposed to sacrifice, it is okay to eat them. Remember, in the time of Ezekiel the Children of Yisra’el were sacrificing the worst of the flock to YHVH and keeping the best for themselves and it was unacceptable to YHVH. What is our slaughter offering? Hos_14:2 Take words with you, and return to יהוה. Say to Him, “Take away all crookedness, and accept what is good, and we render the bulls of our lips.

We see this echoed in Hebrews but is rendered incorrectly because of the Greek used here: Heb_13:15 Through Him then, let us continually offer up a slaughter offering of praise to Elohim, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His Name. (The word for fruit is Karpos)

What are other sacrifices that we can give?

Verse 16 – DO NOT EAT THE BLOOD! Why is that?

Verses 17-18 – Do not eat the tithe within your gates. The first tithe goes to the Levites but where and when are the other tithes eaten?

Verses 29-31 – Over and over we are warned to not do as the nations do yet we did. Why? We are also approaching the season of doing as the nations do. Why not keep Yeshu’a’s birthday on the real day that he was born instead on the day the pagans worshipped the winter solstice? Why keep Yeshu’a’s birthday at all? Where are we commanded to observe birthdays? How many times do they occur in Scripture? Were those good days for YHVH’s people?

Deu 12:32 “All the words I am commanding you, guard to do it – do not add to it nor take away from it.

Deu 4:2 “Do not add to the Word which I command you, and do not take away from it, so as to guard the commands of יהוה your Elohim which I am commanding you.

Pro 30:6 Do not add to His Words, Lest He reprove you, and you be found a liar.

Ahavah,
