Lesson date: 09/27/5860AA
The next 3 chapters are very exciting and all three point to Yeshu’a Messiah; Chapter 19 being the Red Heifer; Chapter 20 is the Rock; and 21 is Bronze serpent on the staff. Something I want to point out, which I usually do not, is the name of the Torah portion, that all 3 of these chapters fall within, is Huqqat which is taken from the first seven words of verse 2 (In English Scriptures). The Hebrew is חֻקַּת הַַַּתּוֹרָה. The word in red is Huqqat – H2708 – Huqqah. The noun “huqqah” ends with a “hey” and is in “construct” with Torah. The rule of two nouns in construct, which means that the first noun is joined to the second noun then the “Hey” is changed to a “Tav”. By doing this it highlights the fact that Huqqah is pertaining to Torah. All Semitic languages, that I am familiar with, have a “noun in construct” rule of one fashion or another. The construct rule in Arabic is much more involved and every part of speech, not just the noun must agree in number, masculine/feminine, verb and adjectives, all have to agree. Aramaic is similar to Hebrew with a few more rules. Farsi and Arabic are very similar.
Huqqah comes from the root-word H2710 – חקק – châqaq – BDB Definition: 1) to cut out, decree, inscribe, set, engrave, portray, govern. Another interesting thing is that H2710 Huqaq also means Lawgiver or Inscriber(to cut something into stone): Gen 49:10 “The sceptre shall not turn aside from Yehuḏah, nor an Inscriber from between his feet, until Shiloh comes, and to Him is the obedience of peoples. (I like the definition of Inscriber more because Yeshu’a did not give us new laws or cancel the “Old” but He came to write Torah upon our hearts. Think about it, if you put this phrase with Rev. 13 you unveil the whole problem: Yeshu’a came to write or Inscribe the Word of Elohim upon our hearts and the Nachash seized or caught His Heel and supplanted Him by changing the perception of believers that the Torah was done away with.)
Num 21:18 a well the leaders sank, which the nobles of the people dug with their staves, by the word of the Inscriber.” Then from the wilderness on to Mattanah,
Deu 33:21 “And he chose the best for himself, for there the portion of the inscriber was hidden. And he came with the heads of the people. The righteousness of יהוה he did, and His right-rulings with Yisra’ěl.”
To inscribe or to chisel into stone, i.e. a stony heart. That is what Matthew 5 was all about. Sorry, got carried away again.
Verses 1-2 – H122 – אדם – ‘âdôm – BDB Definition: 1) red, ruddy (of man, horse, heifer, garment, water, lentils)
H6510 – פּרה – pârâh – BDB Definition: 1) cow, heifer
פָרָה אֲַדֻמָה – parah adumah – is the actual phrase and you’ll notice that the word for red has to change to make it agree with the noun.
Notice that the Red Heifer is a law/requirement (Huqqah) of Torah. Why? Without the ashes of the Red Heifer there can be no cleansing, and without cleansing no deliverance (H3444).
Also, the Red Heifer has to be free from any blemish, like the Passover Lamb, ((H8549) -tamiym (tamam) without spot or blemish, to be perfect,)) and it could not have been put under a yoke. You can’t use a cow for work purposes unless it has been taught, from a very young age, how to be controlled by the use of a yoke: H5923 – עול / על – ‛ôl BDB Definition: 1) yoke. To yoke a cow or steer is to place that animal under another authority. At that point, regardless of sex, that animal becomes an ox, which does the work of a man. Look at the word for yoke notice anything if it is written in paleo-Hebrew?
O ‘ayin – the eye, to see, to know, to experience
l lamed – authority, control, authority of the good shepherd, to lead
Experience the Authority of the Good Shepherd.
Lev 26:13 ‘I am יהוה your Elohim, who brought you out of the land of Mitsrayim, from being their slaves. And I have broken the bars of your yoke and made you walk upright.
Mat 11:29 “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am meek and humble in heart, and you shall find rest for your beings.
Mat 11:30 “For My yoke is gentle and My burden is light.”
Gal 5:1 In the freedom with which Messiah has made us free, stand firm, then, and do not again be held with a yoke of slavery.
Heb 7:26 For it was fitting that we should have such a High Priest – kind, innocent, undefiled, having been separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens,
1Pe 1:19 but with the precious blood of Messiah, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless,
Yeshu’a did not come to be controlled by man. He came to redeem man, He came in the Name of His Father, the Good Shepherd (Psalms 23). Yeshu’a did not come as the Bridegroom, that is what we studied in Revelation. Rather, He came and died in the place of the unfaithful bride (heifer):
The Wife (Israel) Who Commits Adultery:
- Write curses in a book: Number 5:23 (Exodus 32:19-20)
- Must drink bitter water: Numbers 5:24 (Exodus 32:19-20)
- Slain with a sword (blade): Ezekiel 16:38-40; 23:47; (Exodus 32:26-28)
- Forsaken by husband: Deuteronomy 31:16-17
- Husband hides his face from wife: Deu. 31:18; Isa. 8:17; 54:8
- Stripped naked: Hosea 2:2-3; Ezekiel 23:22,26
- Slain with thirst: Hosea 2:2-3
- Laughed to scorn: Ezekiel 23:32
- Mocked: 2 Kings 19:21; Isaiah 37:22
- Cast lots: Joel 3:3; Obadiah 1:11
Yeshua Taking On the Sin of the Unfaithful Wife:
- Blotting out curses: Col. 2:14; Gal.3:13
- Drink the bitter cup: Matt. 26:42; 27:48
- Pierced with a blade (spear) John 19:34
- Forsaken: Matt. 27:46

2Co 5:21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of Elohim.
Verses 3-5 – Give it to El’azar – El’azar is a compound word – H499 – and means “El has assisted” or “El has helped” a combination of El (H410) and ‘azar – (H5826): Psa 54:4 See, Elohim is my helper; יהוה is with those who sustain my life.
El’azar has to sprinkle some of the blood seven times toward the front of the Tent of Appointment: 1Pe 1:2 chosen according to the foreknowledge of Elohim the Father, set apart by the Spirit unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of יהושע Messiah: Favour and peace be increased to you.
Heb 12:24 and to יהושע the Mediator of a new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling which speaks better than the blood of Heḇel.
One thing I think people miss is that the heifer was a sign of the original covenant make with Abraham:
Gen 15:9 And He said to him, “Bring Me a three-year-old heifer, and a three-year-old female goat, and a three-year-old ram, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon.”
Next, everything was burned outside the camp: Hebrews 13:12-13 “And so יהושע also suffered outside the gate, to set apart the people with His own blood. 13 Let us, then, go to Him outside the camp, bearing His reproach.”
See, we have to go outside the comfort of the camp (church). Don’t you think church is comfortable? Some of them have A/C, padded pews, a sound system, ushers to do the work, piano and organ or maybe even a full band, chances are you know what the preacher is going to preach, you know which songs to sing. All you have to do is sit down and enjoy the ride, Shucks, they might even have Door Prizes. You won’t have to listen to things that are hard for your ears to hear, that challenge your perceptions. Torah is taught as the Pentateuch and chances are you will only hear about the 10 commandments or tithing. The only time I have known of people getting upset in the church is when the preacher preached a little too long and momma was afraid the roast was going to burn. Now, with computerized ovens even that isn’t the problem it used to. Isn’t it about time we step out of the gate of comfort where Yeshu’a really is? Just a thought.
Verse 6 – Cedar wood, scarlet and hyssop were also commanded to be burned with the Red Heifer. Cedar is resistant to rot and insects and was used in the construction of the Temple when it was built by Solomon. The scarlet worm by itself is a type and shadow of the Messiah. The female lays its eggs on evergreen oak trees in Mediterranean Sea and North Africa (MENA) area, firmly attaches itself to the tree and dies. In this way the body of the worm protects the eggs with its body. The dead bodies of the insects were removed and used to make the scarlet color. Hyssop reminds us of the first Passover when the Passover Lamb was killed and the blood caught in a basin and hyssop would be used to dip into the blood and used more or less like a paint brush to apply the blood to the lintel and doorposts. All these added to the fire of the Red Heifer.
Verse 7-10 – both the priest and the one who gathers the ashes must wash their garments and their bodies in water and will be unclean until evening.
Verses 11-13 – When a person touches a dead body then on the third day some of the ashes of the Red Heifer were mixed with water and the person was sprinkled with the water and then on the seventh day the person was clean. If they did not have the water sprinkled on them on the third day they were simply unclean and cut off.
Yeshu’a died just before the beginning of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, a 7 day feast. He was laid in the grave in the evening just before sunset and raised “renewed” after being “cut off” for three days: Rom 7:1 Or do you not know, brothers – for I speak to those knowing the Torah – that the Torah rules over a man as long as he lives?
Rom 7:2 For the married woman has been bound by Torah to the living husband, but if the husband dies, she is released from the Torah concerning her husband.
Rom 7:3 So then, while her husband lives, she shall be called an adulteress if she becomes another man’s. But if her husband dies, she is free from that part of the Torah, so that she is not an adulteress, having become another man’s.
Rom 7:4 So my brothers, you also were put to death to the Torah through the body of Messiah, for you to become another’s, the One who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to Elohim.
Hos 6:1 ‘Come, and let us turn back to יהוה. For He has torn but He does heal us, He has stricken but He binds us up.
Hos 6:2 After two days He shall revive us, on the third day He shall raise us up, so that we live before Him.
Exo 19:10 And יהוה said to Mosheh, “Go to the people and set them apart today and tomorrow. And they shall wash their garments,
Exo 19:11 and shall be prepared by the third day. For on the third day יהוה shall come down upon Mount Sinai before the eyes of all the people.
Verse 15 – This was a wee bit hard for me to figure out, why is an open vessel treated as a separate topic in these instructions? Once again it is found in the Hebrew word itself:
- H3627 – כּלי – kelı̂y – BDB Definition: 1) article, vessel, implement, utensil
- H3615 – כּלה – kâlâh – BDB Definition: 1) to accomplish, cease, consume, determine, end, fail, finish, be complete, be accomplished, be ended, be at an end, be finished, be spent
- H3618 – כּלּה – kallâh – BDB Definition: 1) bride,
To end, cease accomplish-
כּלה כּלּה – Bride
Still doesn’t make sense? Watch: H6781 – צמד / צמיד – tsâmı̂yd / tsâmid – BDB Definition: 1) bracelet
2) cover (of vessel)
Eze 16:9 “And I washed you in water, and I washed off your blood, and I anointed you with oil.
Eze 16:10 “And I dressed you in embroidered work and gave you sandals of leather. And I wrapped you in fine linen and covered you with silk.
Eze 16:11 “And I adorned you with ornaments, and I put bracelets on your wrists, and a chain on your neck.
Eze 16:12 “And I put a ring on your nose, and earrings in your ears, and a crown of adorning on your head.
Eze 16:13 “Thus you were adorned with gold and silver, and your dress was of fine linen, and silk, and embroidered cloth. You ate fine flour, and honey, and oil. And you were exceedingly beautiful, and became fit for royalty.
This is bridal language. If you are not covered, if you are not washed, if you are not adorned and if you are not fastened or attached to the Messiah you are not clean: Rev 7:14 And I said to him, “Master, you know.” And he said to me, “These are those coming out of the great distress, having washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Gen 24:22 And it came to be, when the camels had finished drinking, that the man took a golden nose ring weighing half a sheqel, and two bracelets for her wrists weighing ten sheqels of gold,
Bracelets = צְמִידִים – ‘ts’miyḏiym’
Here is the kicker, the cover has to be fastened, read it again: H6616 – פּתיל – pâthı̂yl – BDB Definition:
cord, thread (twisted)
How do you fasten yourself to YHVH: Num 15:38 “Speak to the children of Yisra’ěl, and you shall say to them to make tzitzit on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and to put a blue cord (H6616) in the tzitzit of the corners.
This is not about something that has no significance today, look: Num 19:21 And it shall be a law for them forever.
We are being told, and taught, how to make ourselves ready for our bridegroom. Revelation is filled with bridal language and if we don’t know Torah we cannot make ourselves ready for the Marriage Feast of the Lamb.
Ahavah,
