It never ceases to amaze me how myopic my “spiritual” vision can be. I read, reread, and reread again and it is not until I quit reading and start listening that it dawns on me, my eyes are concentrating on just the words and not the intent. Somehow, the Father breaks through the fog or scales that are on my spiritual vision and I finally get a glimpse of what is really being said. Chapter 15 is a perfect example of my fleshly prejudice when reading a spiritual message.

I will try to follow an order: verses 1-15 first (discharge that causes uncleanness); 16-18 next “semen”; 19-30 for Niddah(Separation) “women”. All of these have relevance for us today and I want to cover them, as much as possible, in that order.
Lesson
Verses 1-15 – Look at “zub”, an issue, a flow, gushing or discharge that causes uncleanness. Now, look at the word for “man”, H376 – אישׁ – ‘ı̂ysh – man, husband, humankind, mankind, whosoever. Is it possible we are not talking about just men? I say “yes”. Look at how the chapter is divided up textually, whosoever, then men, then women. Three different categories. Let’s see “whosoever” first.
Next, where does the discharge come from? His/her flesh, skin, also it can mean pudenda (male or female sexual organ) fat, or nakedness. Where does a boil or pimple come from? How about a blister, blood blister, pus or erupting(bursting) poison ivy? All these things are unclean. It is a discharge of a foreign body, or infection coming from the skin sitting on a chair, a saddle, or lying or sitting on a bed. This eruption or discharge is potentially coming from either a man or a woman and is not limited to semen(male) or blood(female). Any discharge of the skin including fecal matter.
Look at it in Greek, G4983 – σῶμα – sōma – Thayer Definition: 1) the body both of men or animals
G1473 – ἐγώ – egō – Thayer Definition: 1) I, me, my
Like we used to say: “Me, myself and I, everyone who matters to me”. Do you see that this is any discharge of the flesh, not limited to semen, blood, pus or some other liquid and it is coming from under our flesh or skin.
Anyone ever get under your skin? Have you ever “erupted” because of it? 1Jn 2:16 Because all that is in the world – the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life – is not of the Father but is of the world.
Jas 3:5 So too the tongue is a little member, yet boasts greatly. See how a little fire kindles a great forest
Jas 3:6 And the tongue is a fire, the world of unrighteousness. Among our members(flesh) the tongue is set, the one defiling the entire body, and setting on fire the wheel of life, and it is set on fire by GěHinnom.
Jas 3:7 For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind.
Jas 3:8 But no man is able to tame the tongue. It is unruly, evil, filled with deadly poison.
You see? When we just thought this was talking about semen or blood we had no problem with it, right? Mat 5:21 “You heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder,’ and whoever murders shall be liable to judgment.
Mat 5:22 “But I say to you that whoever is wroth with his brother without a cause shall be liable to judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raka!’ shall be liable to the Sanhedrin. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be liable to fire of GěHinnom. (Sounds like an eruption to me.)
Mat 5:23 “If, then, you bring your gift to the slaughter-place, and there remember that your brother holds whatever against you,
Mat 5:24 leave your gift there before the slaughter-place, and go, first make peace with your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
OUCH!! Kind of makes you want to go back to just semen and blood doesn’t it? So, how do we know that this is correct? Take a look at this: Lev 15:8 ‘And when he who has the discharge spits on him who is clean, then he shall wash his garments, and shall bathe in water, and be unclean until evening.
If I had a discharge of semen last night and spit on you, how would you know I had a discharge? If a woman had a discharge of blood last night and spit on you, how would you know she had a discharge? You would NOT! When are you most likely to spit on someone? That’s right, after a good and thorough “cussing”. Now, is this starting to make more sense?
Mat 12:34 “Brood of adders! How are you able to speak what is good – being wicked? For the mouth speaks from the overflow of the heart. ((Sounds like a discharge to me.))
Mat 12:35 “The good man brings forth what is good from the good treasures of his heart, and the wicked man brings forth what is wicked from the wicked treasure.
Mat 12:36 “And I say to you that for every idle word men speak, they shall give an account of it in the day of judgment.
Mat 12:37 “For by your words you shall be declared righteous, and by your words you shall be declared unrighteous.”
You mean like clean and unclean? Pro 15:28 The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer, But the mouth of the wrong pours out evil. ((You mean like a discharge?))
Pro 15:29 יהוה is far from the wrong ones, But He hears the prayer of the righteous.
H5042 – נבע – nâba‛ – BDB Definition: 1) to flow, pour out, pour, gush forth, spring, bubble up, ferment, belch forth
Psa 59:7 See, they belch out with their mouth, Swords are in their lips, For who is listening?
Look at the definition of H2931 above. It comes from the root word H2930. Where do we see that? Wayyiqra 15:4-11; 16-24; 27; 31-32.
H2930 – טמא – ṭâmê’ – BDB Definition: 1) to be unclean, become unclean, become impure 1a) (Qal) to be or become unclean 1a1) sexually 1a2) religiously 1a3) ceremonially
((It can even mean “to profane the Name of YHVH))
Most of us don’t begin a conversation by saying, “I had a discharge of last night so be careful where you sit.” Remember this from last week? Psa 1:1 Blessed is the man who shall not walk in the counsel of the wrong, And shall not stand in the path of sinners, And shall not sit in the seat of scoffers,
To sit is used in the sense of “to acquire knowledge”. Don’t learn from the scoffers.
Okay, we now realize that we have engaged in an unclean activity, language, scoffing, false teaching, lawlessness. What do we do next? Lev 15:13 ‘And when he who has a discharge is cleansed of his discharge, then he shall count for himself seven days for his cleansing, and shall wash his garments, and shall bathe his flesh in running water, and be clean.
Look at the definition of H2416 at the top of page 2, chay – living. Mayyim chayyim = Living Waters
Jer_2:13 “For My people have done two evils: they have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, to hew out for themselves cisterns, cracked cisterns, which do not hold water.
Remember this from last week?
Joh_4:10 יהושע answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of Elohim, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me to drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”
Joh 7:37 And on the last day, the great day of the festival, יהושע stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me, and let him who believes in Me drink.
Joh 7:38 “As the Scripture said, out of His innermost shall flow rivers of living water.”
Verses 16-18 – This does not prohibit a man from having proper marital intercourse with his wife. There is no need for a sacrifice and all that is required is bathing. It does prohibit service in the Set-Apart place for that day.
Verses 19-30 – ((Niddah Laws)) The Law of Separation. As I have mentioned before, those who abide by the Niddah Laws have an incidence of .01% for uterine and cervical cancers. Maybe, just maybe, this is trying to tell MEN that male cleanliness is more important than we ever imagined. Maybe, just maybe, this is a part of the importance of circumcision.
Does this law prohibit a man showing affection to his wife. No! Does this law prohibit children from touching their mother? Suppose she is nursing, can the baby touch its mother’s breasts? Of course. Do you think a child will be doing service in the Set-Apart Place? Of course not. What is required of those who touch her? Bathe in water. Nothing has to die because you have touched your wife during the time of her monthly cycle. Why not?
The wife is cleansed after 7 days and after that she gives a sacrifice of 2 turtledoves or pigeons on the 8th day. Hmmm? This sounds familiar. A woman is cleansed after 7 Days. This almost sounds prophetic, huh?
Lev 23:33 And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying,
Lev 23:34 “Speak to the children of Yisra’ěl, saying, ‘On the fifteenth day of this seventh new moon is the Festival of Sukkot (Booths) for seven days to יהוה.
Lev 23:35 ‘On the first day is a set-apart gathering, you do no servile work.
Lev 23:36 ‘For seven days you bring an offering made by fire to יהוה. On the eighth day there shall be a set-apart gathering for you, and you shall bring an offering made by fire to יהוה. It is a closing festival, you do no servile work.
We are bound in a marital relationship with our Creator. Rev 21:2 And I, Yoḥanan, saw the set-apart city, renewed Yerushalayim, coming down out of the heaven from Elohim, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
Rev 21:3 And I heard a loud voice from the heaven saying, “See, the Booth (Sukka) of Elohim is with men, and He shall dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and Elohim Himself shall be with them and be their Elohim.
