Lesson date: 5/24/5856AA
Verses 1+ – Here is a chapter of Wayyiqra that the “church” feels has no bearing on them. “The dietary laws were done away with by “Jesus”, right?” Many times, when people what to argue this they will quote: Mar 7:18 And He said to them, “Are you also without understanding? Do you not perceive that whatever enters a man from outside is unable to defile him,
Mar 7:19 because it does not enter his heart but his stomach, and is eliminated, thus purging all the foods?”
If you look at the phrase “and is eliminated” you see that it literally means “goes into the toilet”. The translated just chose to less graphic. G856 – ἀφεδρών – aphedrōn – af-ed-rone‘ – From a compound of G575 and the base of G1476; a place of sitting apart, that is, a privy:
The word for puging is G2511 – καθαρίζω – katharizō – kath-ar-id’-zo – From G2513; to cleanse (literally or figuratively): – (make) clean (-se), purge, purify. This is the Greek word that we get the English word catharsis from.
There is no phrase “and hus declared all foods clean” anywhere in the B’rit Hadasha. It is a myth. The next place people go to is Peter’s dream, in Acts 10, but seldom do people read the interpretation of the dream by Peter himself: Act 10:28 And he said to them, “You know that a Yehuḏi man is not allowed to associate with, or go to one of another race. But Elohim has shown me that I should not call any man common or unclean.
Now, when Peter is called before the council in Yerushalayim what does he tell them? Act 11:16 “And I remembered the word of the Master, how He said, ‘Yoḥanan indeed immersed in water, but you shall be immersed in the Set-apart Spirit.’
Act 11:17 “So if Elohim gave them the same gift as He gave us when we believed on the Master יהושע Messiah, how was I able to withstand Elohim?”
Act 11:18 And having heard this, they were silent, and praised Elohim, saying, “Then Elohim has indeed also given to the nations repentance to life.”
Up to this point the apostles had not gone out witnessing to Gentiles but rather had only gone to gatherings of Jews. This was not in accordance to the command that they had been given: Mat 28:18 And יהושע came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
Mat 28:19 “Therefore, go and make taught ones of all the nations, immersing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Set-apart Spirit,
Mat 28:20 teaching them to guard all that I have commanded you. And see, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” Aměn.
By means of a revelatory dream to Peter, Yeshua was reminding the apostles what He had commanded them to do to go to all nations, not just the Jews.
But, wait a minute, is eating pork so bad? Let’s see: Isa 65:3 the people who provoke Me continually to My face, who slaughter in gardens, and burn incense on slaughter-places of brick;
Isa 65:4 who sit among the burial-sites, and spend the night in secret places, who eat flesh of pigs,a and the broth of unclean meat is in their pots
Isa 65:5 who say, ‘Keep to yourself, do not come near me, for I am set-apart to you!’ These are smoke in My nostrils, a fire that burns all day.
So, can we eat pork and be set apart? No! We become smoke in His nostrils and a fire that burns all day. But it really doesn’t say anything bad will happen to those who eat pork, right? Isa 66:16 “For by fire and by His sword יהוה shall judge all flesh, and the slain of יהוה shall be many –
Isa 66:17 those who set themselves apart and cleanse themselves at the gardens after ‘one’ in the midst, eating flesh of pigs and the abomination and the mouse, are snatched away, together,” declares יהוה.
Have you ever had a Christian tell you that the word “rapture” means to snatch away? Does this “snatching away” sound like a good thing, like an escape from judgement? Even Yeshua said those that are taken are not being “rescued from judgement”: Luk 17:34 “I say to you, in that night there shall be two in one bed, the one shall be taken and the other shall be left.
Luk 17:35 “Two women shall be grinding together, the one shall be taken and the other shall be left.
Luk 17:36 “Two shall be in the field, the one shall be taken and the other shall be left.”
Luk 17:37 And they answering, said to Him, “Where, Master?” And He said to them, “Where the body is, there also the vultures shall be gathered together.”
Does this sound like the people taken were rescued from judgement or rather judged?
If there is something in the B’rit Hasasha that seems to be counter to what we learn in Torah what should we do? Isa 8:20 To the Torah and to the witness! If they do not speak according to this Word, it is because they have no daybreak. Daybreak in this case means light. Yeshua said He was the Light so if it is counter to Torah it is not of Him.
Goats, sheep, cows and deer all have cloven feet and chew a cud. Pigs have cloven feet and do not chew a cud. Cloven feet make one sure footed and chewing a cud, ruminating, represents thinking about Yah’s word. Notice in the picture below that the goats are standing on the vertical wall of a dam eating the lichen that grows there. This is the sure-footedness that we are supposed to have in YHVH’s Word and we are supposed to “ruminate” over the deeper meanings of His Word.
Pigs have split hooves but do not chew a cud and this represents impulsiveness, gobbling up every wind of doctrine that comes along. It is usually justified with the phrase, “that’s not what it means to me”. We should be asking what does it mean to YHVH?” not what it means to me.
Ever notice a milking stool, like the one below? It has three legs, or feet. Have you noticed any piece of furniture with three legs, or feet? They are extremely strong and stable. What does this have to do with clean food? Nothing. It does have everything to do with our relationship with YHVH.
Exo 23:14 “Three times in the year you are to celebrate a festival to Me:
H7272 – רגל – regel – BDB Definition: 1) foot 1a) foot, leg
The word for “times” is regel and it means foot, leg and represents the core of our faith. Three times a year we are to come together to fellowship with YHVH on His chosen feasts. These feasts are called the three feet of His Commands. Strong and stable and cannot be turned by every wind of doctrine.
Our world today is suffering from diseases of every kind. Most are natural but many are not. Of those that are natural many are associated with our diet and/or lifestyle. I believe that cancer is one of those diseases. In developed countries, like America, it is literally a plague running rampant. But in third world countries, where they do not have access to highly refined and processed foods, it is a rarity.
Exo 15:26 And He said, “If you diligently obey the voice of יהוה your Elohim and do what is right in His eyes, and shall listen to His commands and shall guard all His laws, I shall bring on you none of the diseases I brought on the Mitsrites, for I am יהוה who heals you.”
In today’s age of the “plandemic” of the corona-virus many people are fearful. A year ago, if you walked into a store with a mask on someone would have called the police. Now, because of fear, they will call the police if you don’t wear a mask. Disobedience brings fear. Lev 26:14 ‘But if you do not obey Me, and do not do all these commands,
Lev 26:15 and if you reject My laws, or if your being loathes My right-rulings, so that you do not do all My commands, but break My covenant,
Lev 26:16 I also do this to you: And I shall appoint sudden alarm over you, wasting disease and inflammation, destroying the eyes, and consuming the life. And you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.
When you disobeyed your parents, weren’t you afraid they would catch you and punish you? Same thing. There is punishment for disobedience but there is also reward for obedience: Rom 14:17 For the reign of Elohim is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Set-apart Spirit.
These are the rewards for obedience. So, what is the purpose? We covered it last shabbat:
Lev 10:9 “Do not drink wine or strong drink, you, nor your sons with you, when you go into the Tent of Appointment, lest you die – a law forever throughout your generations,
Lev 10:10 so as to make a distinction between the set-apart and the profane, and between the unclean and the clean,
Lev 10:11 and to teach the children of Yisra’ěl all the laws which יהוה has spoken to them by the hand of Mosheh.”
And, here it is again this week: Lev 11:46 ‘This is the Torah of the beasts and the birds and every living being – the creeping creature in the waters, and of every being that swarms on the earth,
Lev 11:47 to make a distinction between the unclean and the clean, and between the living creature that is eaten and the living creature that is not eaten.’ ”
YHVH gives us every chance to follow His Commands, He repeats them over and over.
Lev 20:24 ‘But I say to you, “You are going to possess their land, and I Myself give it to you to possess it, a land flowing with milk and honey.” I am יהוה your Elohim, who has separated you from the peoples.
Lev 20:25 ‘And you shall make a distinction between clean beasts and unclean, and between unclean birds and clean. And do not make yourselves abominable by beast or by bird, or whatever creeps on the ground, which I have separated from you as unclean.
Lev 20:26 ‘And you shall be set-apart to Me, for I יהוה am set-apart, and have separated you from the peoples to be Mine.
In the doctrine of the “trinity” Jesus is God. If Jesus is God how could He undo what he had established for milennia: Heb 13:8 יהושע Messiah is the same yesterday, and today, and forever.
Now, why are we supposed to know the difference between clean and unclean?
Ahavah vberakhot
