Lesson date: 1/24/5856AA
Verse 1 – Immediately, we see a type and shadow of the Messiah in Mosheh. Aharon and his sons cannot set themselves apart but it takes a Mediator between Aharon and his sons and YHVH for them to be set apart. Like Aharon and his sons, we require a Mediator in order for us to be set-apart as priest to YHVH: 1Ti 2:5 For there is one Elohim, and one Mediator between Elohim and men, the Man Messiah יהושע,
1Pe 2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a set-apart nation, a people for a possession, that you should proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light,
1Pe 2:10 who once were not a people, but now the people of Elohim; who had not obtained compassion, but now obtained compassion.
This is not the only shadow of Messiah we see in this verse: Take one young bull and two rams, perfect ones,
H8549 – תָּמִים – tâmı̂ym – taw-meem’ – From H8552; entire; also (as noun) integrity, truth: – without blemish, complete, full, perfect, sincerely (-ity), sound, without spot, undefiled, upright (-ly), whole.
Heb 7:26 For it was fitting that we should have such a High Priest – kind, innocent, undefiled, having been separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens,
1Pe 1:19 but with the precious blood of Messiah, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless,
The Aramaic/Arabic word “Tamom” today has pretty much the same meaning or can be slang for Okay.
In this one verse we see that we have to have a Mediator and a Perfect Sacrifice in order for us to be brought into YHVH’s family and become His priests.
Verse 2 – In this verse, yet again we see an allusion to Yeshua in the bread that is described wheat bread without leaven, no sin: Heb 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Also, in this one verse we see the type and shadow of the Ruach Hakodesh in that the unleavened bread must be mixed with oil and the unleavened wafers anointed with oil. We could just as easily say that the oil also represents Torah and it is the oil that will bind the bread together.
Bread is bread? No. There are three types of bread being mentioned: H3899 – lehem – bread, loaf, food Mat 2:1 And יהושע having been born in Běyth Leḥem of Yehuḏah in the days of Herodes the sovereign, see, Magi from the east came to Yerushalayim,
H2471 – challah – cake, to puncture; which comes from H2490 – chalal – to wound, to pierce, bore into, to slay: Joh 19:34 But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and instantly blood and water came out.
Isa 53:5 But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our crookednesses. The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.
H7550 – raqiyq – wafer which interestingly comes from H7556 – rawkak – to spit: Mat 26:67 Then they spat in His face and beat Him, and others slapped Him,
Mar 14:65 And some began to spit on Him, and to blindfold Him, and to beat Him, and to say to Him, “Prophesy!” And the officers struck Him with the palms of their hands.
Verse 3 – In one basket we all come from different backgrounds but by our faith in our Messiah and are put in one basket: Rom_12:4 For as we have many members in one body, but all members do not have the same function,
Rom_12:5 so we, the many, are one body in Messiah, and members each one of one another.
Verse 4 – Aharon and his sons were to be washed at the Door: Joh_10:7 יהושע therefore said to them again, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
Joh_10:9 “I am the door. Whoever enters through Me, he shall be saved, and shall go in and shall go out and find pasture.
Just as Aharon and his sons were washed at the door, so are we: Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, as Messiah also did love the assembly and gave Himself for it,
Eph 5:26 in order to set it apart and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word,
Heb 10:22 let us draw near with a true heart in completeness of belief, having our hearts sprinkled from a wicked conscience and our bodies washed with clean water.
Rev 1:5 and from יהושע Messiah, the trustworthy witness, the first-born from the dead, and the ruler of the sovereigns of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,
Rev 1:6 and has made us sovereigns and priests to His Elohim and Father, to Him be esteem and rule forever and ever. Aměn.
Verse 5 – Eph 6:14 Stand, then, having girded your waist with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
Verse 6 – Eph 6:17 Take also the helmet of deliverance, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of Elohim,
1Th 5:8 But we who are of the day should be sober, putting on the breastplate of belief and love, and as a helmet the expectation of deliverance.
Verse 7 – This gets back to the very meaning of Messiah: H4899 – מָשִׁיחַ – mâshı̂yach – maw-shee’-akh From H4886; anointed; usually a consecrated person (as a king, priest, or saint); specifically the Messiah: – anointed, Messiah.
Verse 7 should also remind us of: Joh 1:32 And Yoḥanan bore witness, saying, “I have seen the Spirit coming down from heaven like a dove and remain on Him.
Joh 1:33 “And I did not know Him, but He who sent me to immerse in water said to me, ‘Upon whom you see the Spirit coming down and remaining on Him, this is He who immerses in the Set-apart Spirit.’
Verses 10-18 – The bull and the ram are slain at the Door of the Tent of Appointment: Exo 12:13 ‘And the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I shall pass over you, and let the plague not come on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Mitsrayim.
Notice how the bull and ram are cut into pieces. Yeshua was not cut into pieces so how does this reflect Messiah: Psa 22:14 I have been poured out like water, And all My bones have been spread apart; My heart has become like wax; It has melted in the midst of My inward parts.
Psa 22:15 My strength is dried like a potsherd, And My tongue is cleaving to My jaws; And to the dust of death You are appointing Me.
Psa 22:16 For dogs have surrounded Me; A crowd of evil ones have encircled Me, Piercing My hands and My feet;a Footnote: aSome MSS have like a lion, my hands and my feet.’ or they dug my hands and my feet.’
Psa 22:17 I count all My bones. They look, they stare at Me.
Verses 19-20 – The second ram has a special purpose. The blood is placed on the right ear, so we can hear and discern the Truth; then it is placed on the right thumb so that we can Do what is right; and then the blood is placed on the right big toe so that we can walk in the right Way. Psa_25:9 Yod He guides the meek ones in right-ruling, And He teaches the meek ones His way.
Psa_107:7 And He guided them by the right way, To go to a city to settle.
1Jn 2:6 The one who says he stays in Him ought himself also to walk, even as He walked.
Verses 22-24 – The parts of the ram and the bread are placed into the hands of Aharon and his sons showing us that our hands should be filled with doing the work of our Father and not the work of the world: 2Ti 2:4 No one serving as a soldier gets involved in the affairs of this life, in order to please only him who enlisted him as a soldier.
Verses 32-34 – Aharon and his sons sit at the Door and eat the bread and the flesh of the ram:
Joh 6:51 “I am the living bread which came down out of the heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he shall live forever. And indeed, the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.”
Joh 6:52 The Yehuḏim, therefore, were striving with one another, saying, “How is this One able to give us His flesh to eat?”
Joh 6:53 יהושע therefore said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Aḏam and drink His blood, you possess no life in yourselves.
Joh 6:54 “He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood possesses everlasting life, and I shall raise him up in the last day.
Joh 6:55 “For My flesh is truly food, and My blood is truly drink.
Joh 6:56 “He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood stays in Me, and I in him.
Verses 35-46 – ((John 20)) This shows that it takes 7 days for the ordination of a High Priest. Aharon is a picture of the coming of the Messiah. Yeshua appeared to His disciples on the first day of the week((day of the wave offering – Shem. 29:24)). He cautioned Miriam of Magdala not to hold him or touch him and on the same day appeared to His two disciples on the road to Ammeus and later in the day to ten of the apostles. They then went and told Toma, who was not with them when Yeshua appeared, about what happened and Yeshua reappeared eight days later. His ordination as High Priest was complete.
