Shemoth (Exodus) 19

Lesson date: 11/13/5855AA

Verses 1-2 – This is the 11th stop for the Children of Yisra’el since their journey began 3 months ago. They departed Rephidim and have now arrived at the Wilderness of Sinai. We have discussed how the word for “wilderness” is “midbar” and the root word is “dabar” = word. “Midbar” can also mean mouth. Also, that the root for “Sinai” is “Sin” the name of the male moon god deity. Sinai can mean “thorny” and if we put the two words together we see that YHVH brought the Children of Yisra’el to Sinai to prick the hearts of Yisra’el with words from a thorny mouth or said another way YHVH brought the Children of Yisra’el to a “thorny place” to prick their hearts to receive Torah. ((I have still not completed the set of the new computer and do not have the “early semitic” font loaded into Open Office yet. Sorry.))

Verse 3 – Moshe goes up the mountain to receive the “words” that he is to deliver to the Children of Yisra’el. This is a clear foreshadowing of the coming of Yeshua Who acts as our Mediator: 1Ti 2:5 For there is one Elohim, and one Mediator between Elohim and men, the Man Messiah יהושע,

Verse 4 – ((The Party of the First Part:)) This is covenant language “You have seen what I did”. I have been in enough “performance” contracts to know that this is a statement of qualifications. YHVH is telling Moshe, and the Children of Yisra’el, I have defeated all the gods of Mitsrayim and brought you here to Me. Essentially, I have done what I said I would do: Isa 40:31 but those who wait on יהוה renew their strength, they raise up the wing like eagles, they run and are not weary, they walk and do not faint.

Verse 5 – NOW ((This is the duties and responsibilities of the Party of the Second Part)) (1) DILIGENTLY OBEY My Voice אִם־שָמוֹעֶַ תִֶשְמְעוּ – im-shamua tishmeu. I wanted you to see the Hebrew used here to convey the idea of “Diligently Obey”. If you look at the words shamua and tishmeu you will see that the Shin, Mem and Ayin are common. Compare that to what you see in the KJV+ and you will see that it is conveyed by showing the word H8085 twice in a row. It is literally saying “If hearing you shall hear” or as we see it in Hazon: Rev_13:9 If anyone has an ear, let him hear.

This phrase is repeated 8 times in the Book of Revelation. (Notice; the word hear in English is composed from the word ear. Same thought.) How is it that we are able to HEAR and OBEY and others do not? Heb 5:9 And having been perfected, He became the Causer of everlasting deliverance to all those obeying Him,

The word for “voice” is “qol” – kole- H6963 – call aloud, voice or thundering.

Clause Two of the contract/covenant is “and shall guard My Covenant” H8104(H853) – shamar – to build a hedge around(as with thorns – Sinai) Mat_21:33 “Hear another parable: There was a certain man, a householder who planted a vineyard and placed a hedge around it, and dug a winepress in it and built a watchtower. And he leased it to farmers and went abroad.

The word for My Covenant is – beriythiy – from beriyth (the -iy – meaning My) comes from H1262 which means “to give meat”, i.e. to feed or meal and can meat to cut flesh. In others words, a covenant meal. It can also meal to pass between pieces of flesh: Gen 15:17 And it came to be, when the sun went down and it was dark, that see, a smoking oven and a burning torch passing between those pieces.

Gen 15:18 On the same day יהוה made a covenant with Aḇram, saying, “I have given this land to your seed, from the river of Mitsrayim to the great river, the River Euphrates,

Now, here is the meat, I have done all that I said that I would do and all you have to do is “hear” “guard” and “do” My Covenant and if you do them then I will make you My Treasured Possession – ((H5459 – סְגֻלָּה – segûllâh – seg-ool-law’ – Feminine passive participle of an unused root meaning to shut up; wealth (as closely shut up): – jewel, peculiar (treasure), property, proper good, special.))

above all people – for all the earth is Mine

this last phrase is a qualifier that shows YHVH has the right to do this because He owns it. He has the deed to the earth, it has been surveyed and platted and it is His footstool: Act_7:49 ‘The heaven is My throne, and earth is My footstool. What house shall you build for Me? says יהוה, or what is the place of My rest?

This is the actual final clause of a deed to my property. Notice any similarities?

Grantor binds Grantor and Grantor’s heirs, executors administrators, successors and assigns to warrant and forever defend all and singular the property to Grantee and Grantee’s heirs executors, successors, administrators and assigns against every person whomsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof, except as to the reservations from and exceptions to conveyance and warrant.

Does YHVH have an Heir? An Executor? A Successor? An Assignee? Yes, His Son. What is the property? Tit 2:13 looking for the blessed expectation and esteemed appearance of the great Elohim and our Saviour יהושע Messiah,

Tit 2:14 who gave Himself for us, to redeem us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for Himself a people, His own possession, ardent for good works.

Does the Grantee have heirs, executors, administrators, successors and assignees?

Lev_23:31 “You do no work – a law forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

(Where? In all your dwellings – wherever you are.)

Verse 6 – A reign of priest? Oh, that was the Old Covenant but we are New Testament Christians that doesn’t apply to us, right? 1Pe 2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a set-apart nation, a people for a possession, that you should proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light,

1Pe 2:10 who once were not a people, but now the people of Elohim; who had not obtained compassion, but now obtained compassion.

1Th 4:3 For this is the desire of Elohim: your set-apartness! – that you should abstain from whoring,

1Th 4:4 that each one of you should know how to possess his own vessel in set-apartness and respect,

1Th 4:5 not in passion of lust, like the nations who do not know Elohim,

1Th 4:6 not to overstep and take advantage of his brother in this matter, because the Master is the revenger of all such, as we indeed said to you before and earnestly warned.

1Th 4:7 For Elohim did not call us to uncleanness, but in set-apartness.

Verse 7-8 – Mosheh went up the mountain to get the Words of YHVH, he went down the mountain to present the words to the people and he will go back up the mountain to take their words to YHVH. Is YHVH deaf? No! Job_21:27 Look, I know your thoughts, and the plots with which you would wrong me.

Psa_139:23 Search me, O Ěl, and know my heart; Try me, and know my thoughts;

Mosheh is functioning physically in the role that Messiah Yeshua will function in spiritually.

“All that YHVH has spoken we shall do.” They answered together – yahad – H3162

Psa 133:1 See how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity – H3162

Verses 9-11 – Poor Mosheh, he now tells YHVH what the people said and YHVH tells Mosheh what He wants His people to do and he has to go back down the mountain and tell the people, at 80 years of age. (80 = 2×40 and?)

And they shall wash their garments:Rev_7:14 And I said to him, “Master, you know.” And he said to me, “These are those coming out of the great distress, having washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Dan 7:9 “I was looking until thrones were set up, and the Ancient of Days was seated. His garment was white as snow, and the hair of His head was like clean wool, His throne was flames of fire, its wheels burning fire.

Isa 1:18 “Come now, and let us reason together,” says יהוה. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

Isa 1:19 “If you submit and obey, you shall eat the good of the land;

This is a wedding announcement and the Bride must dress herself in White. The people have been traveling parts of 3 months, 50 days, and have arrived at the house of the bride’s father and are going to celebrate a Ketubah meal. They must get out of their traveling clothes and put on fine white clothes for this event.

Look back to the week of Creation. It wasn’t until the 4th Day that the Lights in the heavens were created to separate the Light from the Darkness. In the 4th Millennial Day Yeshua came to bring Light to the world.  The sign of Yonah: Mat_12:39 But He answering, said to them, “A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Yonah.

Gen 42:16 “Send one of you, and let him bring your brother, while you are kept in prison. So let your words be proven to see whether there is any truth in you, or else, by the life of Pharaoh, you are spies!”

Gen 42:17 And he put them all together in prison for three days.

Jon 1:17 But יהוה appointed a great fish to swallow Yonah. And Yonah was in the stomach of the fish three days and three nights.

Jon 2:10 Then יהוה spoke to the fish, and it vomited Yonah onto the dry land.

After three days Joseph let his brothers out of prison and into the light. After three days and nights Yonah was vomited out the belly of the fish into the light. How long was Yeshua in the grave? It has been 2 millennial days since Yeshua came. The third Day is the time of the Resurrection.

Verses 13-20 – “When the Yoḇel sounds long,” H3104 – יבל / יובל – yôbêl – BDB Definition: 1) ram, ram’s horn, trumpet, cornet 1a) ram (only in combination) 1a1) ram’s horn, trumpet1b) jubilee year (marked by the blowing of cornets) (metonymy)

This is the First Trumpet, the wedding trumpet, the Yobel, the Jubilee, the First Shavuoth. This is different from the first of the Last Trumpets. The first of the Last Trumpets is sounded on Yom Teruah: 1Co 15:51 See, I speak a secret to you: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

1Co 15:52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

1Th 4:16 Because the Master Himself shall come down from heaven with a shout, with the voice of a chief messenger, and with the trumpet of Elohim, and the dead in Messiah shall rise first.

1Th 4:17 Then we, the living who are left over, shall be caught away together with them in the clouds to meet the Master in the air – and so we shall always be with the Master.

1Th 4:18 So, then, encourage one another with these words.

Why is the Bride “caught away(up)?”

The last of the Last Trumpets is sounded on Yom Kippur which is also known as the “Wedding Ceremony of the Messiah” and signifies that the wedding ceremony has been consummated and the wedding feast will begin on the fifteenth day of the seventh month – SUKKOT, the wedding feast of the Lamb: Rev 19:7 “Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him praise, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife prepared herself.”

Rev 19:8 And to her it was given to be dressed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteousnesses of the set-apart ones.

Rev 19:9 And he said to me, “Write, ‘Blessed are those who have been called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’ ” And he said to me, “These are the true words of Elohim.”

We are currently living between the period of time between the First Trumpet and the First of the Last Trumpets. Upon the sounding of the Last of the Last trumpets we will tremble: Php_2:12 So that, my beloved, as you always obeyed – not only in my presence, but now much rather in my absence – work out your own deliverance with fear and trembling,

The Last of the Last Trumpets is Judgement Day – Yom Kippur.

Thunders – H6963 – qol – kole

Lightenings – H1300 – baraq – bawrawk – to gleam, a flashing sword

Who can go up to the mountain of Elohim? Psa 24:3 Who does go up into the mountain of יהוה? And who does stand in His set-apart place?

Psa 24:4 He who has innocent hands and a clean heart, Who did not bring his life to naught, And did not swear deceivingly.

The Bride must be chaste, not have committed adultery with other gods.

The mountain trembled exceedingly, not just the people but, even the mountain. Hos 11:9 “I shall not let the heat of My wrath burn, I shall not turn to destroy Ephrayim. For I am Ěl, and not man, the Set-apart One in your midst, and I shall not come in enmity.

Hos 11:10 “Let them follow יהוה. Like a lion He roars. When He roars, then sons shall tremble from the west.

Hos 11:11 “They shall tremble like a bird from Mitsrayim, and like a dove from the land of Ashshur. And I shall let them dwell in their own houses,” declares יהוה.

This account of what happened is a beautiful account: Heb 12:18 For you have not drawn near to a mountain touched and scorched with fire, and to blackness, and darkness and storm,

Heb 12:19 and a sound of a trumpet, and a voice of words, so that those who heard it begged that no further Word should be spoken to them,

Heb 12:20 for they could not bear what was commanded, “If even a beast touches the mountain, it shall be stoned or shot through with an arrow.”

Heb 12:21 And so fearsome was the sight that Mosheh said, “I exceedingly fear and tremble.”

Heb 12:22But you have drawn near to Mount Tsiyon and to the city of the living Elohim, to the heavenly Yerushalayim, to myriads of messengers,

Heb 12:23 to the entire gathering and assembly of the first-born having been enrolled in heaven, and to Elohim the Judge of all, and to the spirits of righteous men made perfect,

Heb 12:24 and to יהושע the Mediator of a new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling which speaks better than the blood of Heḇel.

Heb 12:25 Take heed not to refuse the One speaking. For if those did not escape who refused the warning on earth, much less we who turn away from Him from heaven,

Heb 12:26 whose voice shook the earth then, but now He has promised, saying, “Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also the heaven.”

Heb 12:27 And this, “Yet once more,” makes clear the removal of what is shaken – as having been made – so that the unshaken matters might remain.

Heb 12:28 Therefore, receiving an unshakeable reign, let us hold the favour, through which we serve Elohim pleasingly with reverence and awe,

Heb 12:29 for indeed, our Elohim is a consuming fire.

Verses 21-25 – A warning to not go beyond the boundary. A warning to obey YHVH’s instructions. Look at the unusual language in verses 22 & 24? What is happening here?

Ahavah,
