((Study guide after the fact))
Verses 1-2 – When you begin to break down Hebrew terms in Scripture all of a sudden Scripture takes on a new and more dynamic meaning than before. Last week we read Chapter 11 because we had time left after reading Chapter 10. We had some good questions and comments on Chapter 11 but we failed to find a pivotal phrase in verse 1. Look below at verse 1 in the ISR and KJV+ versions:
((Look at this phrase in the ISR)) “he shall drive you out from here altogether.”
((Now look at it in the KJV+)) he shall surely thrust you out [H1644 H1644 (H853)] hence [H4480 H2088] altogether. [H3617]
H1644 – גָּרַשׁ – gârash – gaw-rash’ – A primitive root; to drive out from a possession; especially to expatriate or divorce: – cast up (out), divorced (woman),
Notice also the first time we see the word used in Scripture: Gen_3:24 So he drove out [H1644 (H853)] the man; Man, YHVH’s chosen creation to have a one on one relationship, is driven out or divorced from that one on one relationship by virtue of his disobedience. Notice anything noteworthy about the 2 Scriptures?
Next look at verse 2 and let’s analyze the last phrase: and every woman from her neighbour, objects of silver and objects of gold.”
Of course everyone knows that this is a fulfillment of the prophecy YHVH gave Abraham in Bereshith 15: Gen 15:14 “But the nation whom they serve I am going to judge, and afterward let them come out with great possessions.
But, is there still more to the meaning of verse 2 in conjunction with verse 1? Here is a hint: Eze 16:10 “And I dressed you in embroidered work and gave you sandals of leather. And I wrapped you in fine linen and covered you with silk.
Eze 16:11 “And I adorned you with ornaments, and I put bracelets on your wrists, and a chain on your neck.
Eze 16:12 “And I put a ring on your nose, and earrings in your ears, and a crown of adorning on your head.
Eze 16:13 “Thus you were adorned with gold and silver, and your dress was of fine linen, and silk, and embroidered cloth. You ate fine flour, and honey, and oil. And you were exceedingly pretty, and became fit for royalty.
YHVH is having the Mitsrites give wedding gifts to the Children of Yisra’el. Once they arrive in the Wilderness of Sin then these gifts will be used to build the Tabernacle of YHVH and Yisra’el will enter into a ketubah covenant relationship with the Most High. The Bride (Yisra’el) is being driven out of the House of Mitsrayim and given wedding gifts to adorn itself as a Bride to YHVH. ((Please refer to the article YHVH, Yeshua and You in this email.))
Verse 3 – And יהוה gave the people favour in the eyes of the Mitsrites.
Favour = H2580 – חֵן – chên – khane – From H2603; graciousness, that is, subjectively (kindness, favor) or objectively (beauty): – favour, grace (-ious), pleasant, precious, [well-] favoured.
Remember the difference between khane and chesed? You have chesed when you have a relationship and khane is not dependent upon a relationship. Unfortunately, chesed is usually translated “mercy” in the KJV and but is translated loving-commitment(or kindness) in the ISR. (Loving-commitment speaks of a “loving” relationship.)
Verse 4 – “About midnight”. Mat 25:1 “Then the reign of the heavens shall be compared to ten maidens who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
Mat 25:2 “And five of them were wise, and five foolish.
Mat 25:3 “Those who were foolish, having taken their lamps, took no oil with them,
Mat 25:4 but the wise took oil in their containers with their lamps.
Mat 25:5 “Now while the bridegroom took time, they all slumbered and slept.
Mat 25:6 “And at midnight a cry was heard, ‘See, the bridegroom is coming, go out to meet him!’
Mat 25:7 “Then all those maidens rose up and trimmed their lamps.
Mat 25:8 “And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us of your oil, because our lamps are going out.’
Mat 25:9 “But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, indeed, there would not be enough for us and you. Instead, go to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’
Mat 25:10 “And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast, and the door was shut.
Mat 25:11 “And later the other maidens also came, saying, ‘Master, Master, open up for us!’
Mat 25:12 “But he answering, said, ‘Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.’
Mat 25:13 “Watch therefore, because you do not know the day nor the hour in which the Son of Adam is coming,
Midnight was a favorite time to go and get a bride.
Verse 5 – Which god was being attacked by this plague? Pharaoh was considered a god incarnate so the death of his first-born shows that he was only human and as susceptible to the plague as anyone else.
Verse 6 – ‘And there shall be a great cry”: Mat 8:12 but the sons of the reign shall be cast out into outer darkness – there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
Mat 22:13 “Then the sovereign said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and throw him out into the outer darkness – there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
Mat 24:50 the master of that servant shall come on a day when he does not expect it, and at an hour he does not know,
Mat 24:51 and shall cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites – there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Mat 25:30 ‘And throw the worthless servant out into the outer darkness – there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
Verse 7 – ‘But against any of the children of Yisra’ĕl no dog shall move its tongue,”
The Mitsrite god Anubis is represented as a man’s body topped with a dog’s head and was considered the god of death, mummification, embalming, the afterlife, cemeteries, tombs, and the Underworld, in ancient Egyptian religion. Greyhounds have been found embalmed with their owners and an ancient Egyptian saying reads something like: “The birth of a greyhound pup is as good as a son.”
Verse 8 – Verse 8 is made of greater effect by what is said in verse 3: And the man Mosheh was very great in the land of Mitsrayim, in the eyes of Pharaoh’s servants and in the eyes of the people.
The people of the land and the advisors of Pharaoh had already begun to take heed to the words which Mosheh said.
Verses 9-10 – But Pharaoh would not listen but harden his heart in order to magnify YHVH.
