Lesson date: 12/10/5854AA
Verse 1 – How important is this one verse? Wow! “And Elohim remembered Noah” But what does this mean? H2142 – זָכַר – zâkar – zaw-kar’ – A primitive root; properly to mark (so as to be recognized), that is, to remember; by implication to mention;
Isa 49:16 “See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; your walls are always before Me.
Psa 111:4 He has made His wonders to be remembered; יהוה shows favour and is compassionate.
Psa 111:5 He has given food to those who fear Him; He remembers His covenant forever.
It is better translated mindful.
H2142 is used 41 times in Torah and of those times it is only used 6 times without H853 in the same verse.
“And Elohim made a wind to pass over the earth,” The word used here for wind is ruach, the same word we find here: And the Spirit of Elohim was moving on the face of the waters. And, we also find it here: Exo 14:21 And Mosheh stretched out his hand over the sea. And יהוה caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided.
I know it sounds silly but on a hot day, like yesterday, when it becomes difficult to continue and you stop and look around at all the work there is to still be done and when you think you cannot go any further and a cool breeze blows I always thank Our Father for that blessing. In my mind I think that the breeze may have been caused by the passing of the Ruach Hakodesh.
Verse 2 – Once again we see that it wasn’t just the rain that caused the flood but also the waters for beneath the mantle of the Earth.
Verse 3 – We see that the end of counting days was over.
Verse 4 – Noah could now see the seventh new moon. Look at the symbolism being used once again with the seventeenth day of the seventh new moon. (Seventeen = preservation in the midst of adversity) and we also know that this was during the feast of Sukkot, the wedding feast of the Lamb.
H780 – אררט – ‘ărâraṭ BDB Definition: Ararat = “the curse reversed: precipitation of curse” YHVH began His convenant relationship with Adam at Ararat and now He begins a new covenant with Noah at Ararat.
Verse 5 – 10th new moon, 10th day and also think about this, Noah is the 10th generation. Ten represents completed cycle, or group, congregation (quorum) whether for good or evil, a complete congregation. Had there been 10 righteous men in Sedom it would have had the basic building block of a righteous government but it did not.
Verse 6-7 – 40 = trial and/or transition. On the 10th day of the 11th month Noah sent out a raven, an unclean bird. Why use a raven? Did you notice that it went back and forth: Job 1:7 And יהוה said to Satan, “From where do you come?” And Satan answered יהוה and said, “From diligently searching in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.”
Verse 8-12 – Why send out a dove, a clean animal? Why not just send the dove first? H3123 – יונה – yônâh BDB Definition: 1) dove, pigeon
((Note that dove and the name of the prophet who was also tried by water are the same.))
Mat_3:16 And having been immersed, יהושע went up immediately from the water, and see, the heavens were opened, and He saw the Spirit of Elohim descending like a dove and coming upon Him,
Joh_1:32 And Yoḥanan bore witness, saying, “I have seen the Spirit coming down from heaven like a dove and remain on Him.
Noticed what happened: Yeshua had just been immersed in water and came up out of the water and the dove rested on His shoulder.
Verse 13 – “removed the covering of the ark and looked, and saw” H4372 – מכסה – mikseh – BDB Definition: 1) a covering
Mikseh is only used 16 times in the entire Scripture, all of them in Torah and only describes the covering of the ark and the tabernacle. It is not used again after Bemidbar 4:25.
I know in my life I had a covering over my eyes and it wasn’t until the covering was removed that I looked and saw for the first time.
Verse 14 – 27th day of the second month. 27 = deal or covenant. Based on the 30-day month cycle Noah and his family had been in the ark 377 days.
Verses 15-16 – Noah saw that the earth was dry in the first of Abib. Why did he wait for 57 more days before going out of the ark? Because he had not been told to, simple or is it?
Psa 121:7 יהוה guards you from all evil; He guards your being.
Psa 121:8 יהוה guards your going out and your coming in Now and forever.
Num 9:23 At the command of יהוה they camped, and at the command of יהוה they departed. They guarded the Charge of יהוה, at the command of יהוה by the hand of Mosheh.
Verses 17-22 – The going out of the ark and repopulating the Earth. Please note verse 21. The ground will not be cursed again because of man.
Verse 22 begs the question: has time changed? Yes!!! If we have time I’ll explain.
