Verses 1-2 Looking at verses 1 and 2 there are multiple ways of translating them. One is that daughters of Qayin were beautiful and the sons of Sheth married them. Many people will read these verses this way because they are afraid to admit that it directly ties in to verse 4. Another way of looking at verses 1 and 2 are that the angels saw how beautiful the women were and left heaven to take human wives. But do we have any supporting scripture for this point of view?
Jud 1:6 And the messengers who did not keep their own principality, but left their own dwelling, He has kept in everlasting shackles under darkness for the judgment of the great day.
1Pe 3:18 Because even Messiah once suffered for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to Elohim, having been put to death indeed in flesh but made alive in the Spirit,
1Pe 3:19 in which also He went and proclaimed unto the spirits in prison,
1Pe 3:20 who were disobedient at one time when the patience of Elohim waited in the days of Noaḥ, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight beings, were saved through water,
Who were the “sons of Elohim”? Job 1:6 And the day came to be that the sons of Elohim came to present themselves before יהוה, and Satan also came among them.
Job 2:1 Again the day came to be that the sons of Elohim came to present themselves before יהוה, and Satan also came among them to present himself before יהוה.
Job 38:7 when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of Elohim shouted for joy?
Psa 82:6 I, I said, “You are elohim, And all of you are sons of the Most High.
We see in the book of 1 Enoch that it was angels that came down to Earth and took human wives and produced hybrid children.
Verse 3 – “He is flesh, and his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.” We have discussed this prophecy before. One, I do not believe that this is telling us that people will not live beyond one hundred twenty years old as is commonly thought, nor do I believe it is telling us that it is 120 years to the flood. I do believe it is telling us how long mankind will be on the earth: H8141 – שׁנה / שׁנה – shâneh / shânâh – BDB Definition: 1) year 1a) as division of time 1b) as measure of time 1c) as indication of age 1d) a lifetime (of years of life)
Now, where do we find another division of time that is numbered? Dan 9:24 “Seventy weeks are decreed for your people and for your set-apart city, to put an end to the transgression, and to seal up sins, and to cover crookedness, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up vision and prophet, and to anoint the Most Set-apart.
Coincidentally enough, by multiplying 50 (70 + 50 = 120) times 49 years (the number of years in a “shabua” cycle) you will see that it equals 2,450 years the same number of years from Adam to the Exodus, when Yisra’el became a nation.
Verse 4 – H5303 – נפל / נפיל – nephı̂yl / nephil – BDB Definition: 1) giants, the Nephilim. I believe this to be a bad translation. Nephil mean to fall, the fallen and as such nephilim would mean the fallen ones. In 1 Enoch YHVH calls the children of the angels “bastards”.
Verse 5 – Have you ever heard someone say “He knows my heart” when you mention Torah? That is exactly their biggest problem because He does know our hearts. Psa 66:18 If I have seen wickedness in my heart, יהוה would not hear.
Pro 28:9 He who turns away his ear from hearing the Torah, Even his prayer is an abomination.
Jer 4:14 O Yerushalayim, wash your heart from evil, and be saved. Till when would your wicked thoughts remain within you?
Psa 73:1 Elohim is truly good to Yisra’ĕl, To those whose heart is clean.
He does know our hearts and that will be the witness against us. Jer 17:9 “The heart is crooked above all, and desperately sick – who shall know it?
Jer 17:10 “I, יהוה, search the heart, I try the kidneys, and give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.
Verse 7 – One of the most overlooked scriptures in this chapter. We see YHVH expressing sorrow for having made man. Why? Adam’s purpose was to fellowship with YHVH and to guard the Garden but he failed and both were denied fellowship because of man’s sin.
Verse 8 – H2580 – חן – chên – BDB Definition: 1) favour, grace, charm 1a) favour, grace, elegance 1b) favour, acceptance
H2580 and H2617 are closely related. H2617 = chesed = H2617 – חסד – chêsêd – BDB Definition: 1) goodness, kindness, faithfulness
Verse 9 – Characteristics of Noah: He was a righteous man: H6662 – צדּיק – tsaddı̂yq – BDB Definition: 1) just, lawful, righteous.
Deu 6:25 ‘And it is righteousness for us when we guard to do all this command before יהוה our Elohim, as He has commanded us.’
Psa 119:172 My tongue sings of Your word, For all Your commands are righteousness.
And, “Perfect in his generations” – H8549 – תָּמִים – tâmı̂ym – taw-meem’ – From H8552; entire (literally, figuratively or morally); also (as noun) integrity, truth: – without blemish, complete, full, perfect, sincerely (-ity), sound, without spot, undefiled, upright (-ly), whole.
Gen 17:1 And it came to be when Aḇram was ninety-nine years old, that יהוה appeared to Aḇram and said to him, “I am Ěl Shaddai – walk before Me and be perfect.
Mat 5:48 “Therefore, be perfect, as your Father in the heavens is perfect.
Also, he walked with Elohim.
Psa 145:20 יהוה preserves all those loving Him, But all the wrong ones He destroys.
Verse 10 – Noah had three sons but more on them later.
Shem- name
Ham – hot (tropical heat or hot headed)
Yapheth – expansion
Verses 11-12 – Corrupt – H7843: to pervert, ruin, corrupt, destroy. I think the meaning “pervert” is very applicable to our times as well.
Verse 13 – violence = H2555 – חָמָס – châmâs – khaw-mawce’ – From H2554; violence; by implication wrong; by metonymy unjust gain: – cruel (-ty), damage, false, injustice, X oppressor, unrighteous, violence (against, done), violent (dealing), wrong.
Yes, this is the same word used in Arabic for the terrorist group in the middle east today.

Let me start by saying that this is a chapter, if it started at Verse 5 rather than Verse 1 it would be taught and read more than it is today by the modern Christian church. Some people try to rationalize by saying that the “Sons of Elohim” are the men of the bloodline of Sheth and the “daughters of men” are the women from the bloodline of Qayin. Nice try but, it does not work like that. Here are a few reasons why not: Job 1:6 And the day came to be that the sons of Elohim came to present themselves before יהוה, and Satan also came among them.
Job 2:1 Again the day came to be that the sons of Elohim came to present themselves before יהוה, and Satan also came among them to present himself before יהוה.
Job 38:6 Upon what were its foundations sunk? Or who laid its corner-stone,
Job 38:7 when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of Elohim shouted for joy?
We see more proof of this gathering of the sons of Elohim in Psalms 82 with just slightly different language: Psa_82:6 I, I said, “You are elohim, And all of you are sons of the Most High.
It is mentioned another time in I Kings: 1Ki 22:19 Then he said, “Therefore hear the word of יהוה: I saw יהוה sitting on His throne, and all the host of the heavens standing by Him, on His right and on His left.
1Ki 22:20 “And יהוה said, ‘Who shall entice Aḥaḇ to go up and fall at Ramoth Gil‛aḏ?’ And this one said this, and another said that.
1Ki 22:21 “And a spirit came forward and stood before יהוה, and said, ‘Let me entice him.’
1Ki 22:22 “And יהוה said to him, ‘In what way?’ And he said, ‘I shall go out and be a spirit of falsehood in the mouth of all his prophets.’ And He said, ‘Entice him, and also prevail. Go out and do so.’
Like all things that are controversial, people choose to avoid these first 5 verses of Chapter 6 but they do so at their own peril. Why? Luk 17:26 “And as it came to be in the days of Noaḥ, so also shall it be in the days of the Son of Aḏam:
Luk 17:27 “They were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noaḥ went into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.
Gen 6:1 And it came to be, when men began to increase on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them,
Gen 6:2 that the sons of Elohim saw the daughters of men, that they were good. And they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose.

It will happen again and mankind will be duped into believing the lie whatever it might be. I suspect that the story will sound something like this, “This is an advanced race that is able to help us solve all of our pressing problems. All we have to do is worship them.”
I wrote a book about just such a incident taking place. Fortunately, it turns out better for the human race in the book than I suspect that it will in real life. I believe it will happen and will take place and that we are currently being steered in that direction. Even now, as America, no, the whole world, faces challenges like never before in the past, food shortages, power shortages, wild inflation, mega-droughts, massive amounts of unpayable debt our congress is hearing testimony on aliens and UFO’s. The day before the fall of the Confederacy the Confederate Congress hotly debated how many copies of the local newspaper should be thrown on the steps of congress.
Verse 5 – “and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”
That pretty well says it all. Even mainstream Christianity wants no part of Torah and they try to justify it any way possible. “Peter had a dream” “Paul said we are dead to Torah” “Ya’ll are Judaizers”. I still believe that those that will be “saved” or redeemed will be about 10% but we are going to have to have a renewal or revival or those numbers are not going to happen: Eze_20:37 “And I shall make you pass under the rod, and shall bring you into the bond of the covenant,
When a shepherd causes his flock to “pass under the rod” 90% of the flock is culled and only the best 10% is kept to start the “new” flock.
Verse 6 – YHVH was grieved in His Heart. He sure is not happy with what is going on today.
Verse 7 – YHVH decides to wipe the Earth clean of any life, even insects. Why? We will see just a little later.
Verse 8-10 – One more time we see “grace” in Torah but why? Noah was pure in his bloodline. We see in Chapter 5 how Noah’s bloodline descended directly from Adam. The fallen angels had not corrupted his bloodline like they had all the others. In other words, Noah ancestors chose to follow YHVH’s Torah.
Here is a little tidbit Shem = Name, (H853 את) Ham = Hot and Yapheth = Opened/Expansion. I just thought it may be interesting.
Verse 11-13 – The Earth had been totally corrupted and all life had been corrupted by the actions of the fallen angels. This is why every culture talks about giants and “wee” people and unicorns and centaurs and medusa-like beings, mermaids and mermen because the fallen angels had no genetic limitation like mankind does. They could miscegenate and procreate with any lifeform.
Verses 14-16 – Noah is commanded to build an ark and he is given the dimensions and specifications of the ark. What is interesting in the discovery of the ark is that the nails used to fasten the wood together contain titanium. This is technology that was rediscovered in the 20th Century so you cannot argue that there was no “advanced” technology in this time. 1 Enoch 8.1 And Azazel taught men to make swords, and daggers, and shields, and breastplates. And he showed them the things after these, and the art of making them; bracelets, and ornaments, and the art of making up the eyes, and of beautifying the eyelids, and the most precious stones, and all kinds of coloured dyes. And the world was changed.
8.2 And there was great impiety, and much fornication, and they went astray, and all their ways became corrupt.
8.3 Amezarak taught all those who cast spells and cut roots, Armaros the release of spells, and Baraqiel astrologers, and Kokabiel ((Kokopelli in Southwest American Indian culture)) portents, and Tamiel taught astrology, and Asradel taught the path of the Moon.
8.4 And at the destruction of men they cried out; and their voices reached Heaven.
1 Enoch 16.1 And the death of the giants, wherever the spirits have gone out from their bodies, their flesh will be destroyed, before the Judgment. Thus they will be destroyed until the Day of the Great Consummation is accomplished, upon the Great Age, upon the Watchers and the impious ones.”
16.2 And now to the Watchers, who sent you to petition on their behalf, who were formerly in Heaven:
16.3 “You were in Heaven but its secrets had not yet been revealed to you; and a worthless mystery you knew. This you made known to women, in the hardness of your hearts. And through this mystery the women and the men cause evil to increase on the Earth.”
16.4 Say to them therefore: “You will not have peace.”
Verse 18 – YHVH establishes a covenant with Noah.
Verse 19-21 – The occupants of the ark.
Verse 22 – Noah did all that he was commanded to do. That is what YHVH expects from us, obedience to His Eternal Word.
