((Please Note: What I am showing here is my opinion. I am by no means saying that it is the positively, absolute only way to read Chapter 4.))
Verse 1-2 – When people read verse 1 it seems very mundane. I argue that if you look at the Hebrew it is not mundane but rather exciting. The first part that we want to examine is “Gen 4:1 And Aḏam knew (*) Ḥawwah his wife, and she conceived and bore Qayin,” (*) = H853?
Did this happen in the garden or after the garden? Remember that question.
“I have gained a man from יהוה.” What was she expecting? Look at the word “from”: H854 – אֵת – ‘êth – ayth – Probably from H579; properly nearness (used only as a preposition or adverb), near;
Isn’t this an odd thing for a mother to say? H854 also means “from” but it also means “against”. Do you see how close it is to H853? Please compare H853 – אֵת – ‘êth – ayth – and H854 – אֵת – ‘êth – ayth.
Let’s blow it up: H853 – אֵת and H854 – אֵת
What is the difference? None! Not only does it have the same consonants – Aleph Tav, but it also has the same diacritical markings and the same pronunciation.
What is the difference? Intent. What was the intent?
We have talked about how the Aleph Tav – H853 is a prophetic marker of Yeshua the Messiah. Suppose, just suppose there was another messiah, who was against Elohim or was near or close to Elohim in appearance, wouldn’t this be in important? Let’s investigate further.
Verse 2 – Gen 4:2 And again, she gave birth((H853)) to his brother((H853)) Heḇel. Look at the word “again”: H3254 – יָסַף – yâsaph – yaw-saf’ – A primitive root; to add or augment (often adverbially to continue to do a thing): – add, X again,
We see Havvah continuing in labor and giving birth to Qayin’s twin brother, Hebel. Where do we see in Scripture twin brothers who were opposed to each other? Who received the blessing? The elder or the younger?
Why is there an H853 in front of Hebel? Was Hebel somehow supposed to be a type and shadow of Yeshua? “And Hebel became a keeper of sheep,”. Joh 10:11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.
Joh_10:14 “I am the good shepherd. And I know Mine, and Mine know Me,
Eze 34:11 ‘For thus said the Master יהוה, “See, I Myself shall search for My sheep and seek them out.
Eze 34:12 “As a shepherd seeks out his flock on the day he is among his scattered sheep, so I shall seek out My sheep and deliver them from all the places where they were scattered in a day of cloud and thick darkness.
Heb 13:20 And the Elohim of peace who brought up our Master יהושע from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
1Pe 2:25 For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your lives.
1Pe 5:4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you shall receive the never-fading crown of esteem.
This is Daryl’s opinion: Suppose, just suppose that Hasatan thought he knew the plan to redeem mankind and was jealous and wanted to stop it or to usurp it. Would he not try to seduce the “mother of all living” (Ber. 3:20) and conceive by her a son that could usurp YHVH Elohim’s plan to restore man to an intimate relationship with Elohim?
1Co 2:7 But we speak the wisdom of Elohim, which was hidden in a secret, and which Elohim ordained before the ages for our esteem,
1Co 2:8 which no one of the rulers of this age knew, for if they had known, they would not have impaled the Master of esteem.
So this was not the first time, in 1 Cor. 2:7-8, that Hasatan tried to undermine YHVH’s plan to redeem mankind. ((Possibly?))
Wait a minute Daryl, if Hasatan had intercourse with Havvah wouldn’t both children be his? No, not necessarily. “It’s only logical, then, that when a woman has sex with more than one man while she’s fertile, “heteropaternal superfecundation” can occur. That is, each egg can be fertilized by a different father. Two eggs are ovulated during the same cycle and fertilized at different points within the six-day fertility window, resulting in a bouncing pair of twins.”
Gen 3:16 To the woman He said, “I greatly increase your sorrow and your conception – bring forth children in pain.
((This is the clinical definition of what may have taken place.))
Let’s review: Gen 3:6 And the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, and she took of its fruit and ate. And she also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.
2Co 11:3 But I am afraid, lest, as the serpent deceived Hawwah by his trickery, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Messiah.
Deceived = G1818 – ἐξαπατάω – exapataō – ex-ap-at-ah’-o – From G1537 and G538; to seduce wholly: – beguile, deceive.
Wasn’t Adam a farmer, an agriculturalist? Look at this: “but Qayin became a tiller of the ground.”
What is so bad about a son following in his father’s footsteps? There was nothing wrong with Qayin being a farmer but look at his offering: brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to יהוה.
What is wrong with this offering? Ber. 3:17 …“Cursed is the ground because of you,
Only the blood of the lamb could make atonement for sin and instead Qayin brought produce, not even fruit from trees but produce from the ground that had been cursed because of Adam’s sin.
Next, let’s take a look at the names of each of the brothers:
Qayin =H7014 – קין – qayin – smith, i.e. blacksmith, lance/spear, strike suddenly
q = condense, circle, time, in the beginning/end
I = Hand, work, throw, strong arm
n = Seed, heir, son, fish, sprout ((And yes, it appears as a sperm cell and a serpent))
Hebel = H1893 – הבל – hebel – breath
e = look, reveal, breath, revelation, behold
b = tent, house, family, in, into
l = shepherd’s staff, authority, teach, yoke, bind
Qayin = In the beginning the work of the hand was seed (produce).
Qayin 2 = In the beginning by a strong arm the serpent seed.
Hebel = Behold the house of authority.
Hebel 2 = Behold the family of the good shepherd.
Verse 3-5 – Now, regardless of how and when they arrived, the brothers each bring an offering and YHVH is pleased with Hebel’s and not with Qayin’s. Hebel’s offering was a lamb from the flock, a blood sacrifice and Qayin’s offering was produce from the ground that had been cursed.
Verse 6 – Please note that at this point YHVH is communicating directly with Qayin.
Verse 7 – This verse to me shows the idea of grace like no other. YHVH is giving Qayin another opportunity to do better but warns him if he does not that sin will master him instead of him mastering over the sin: Jas 1:15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin. And sin, when it has been accomplished, brings forth death.
Question: If sin was not known by Adam, Havvah, Qayin and Hebel how could they understand what YHVH was telling them.? 1Jn 3:4 Everyone doing sin also does lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.
Even at this point in time the Torah was known to mankind.
Verse 8 – When I picture Qayin speaking to Hebel in the field I imagine Qayin poking Hebel in the chest with his calloused hand to make his point about Hebel’s sheep eating his crops. Finally, in a fit of rage he kills his brother. Now, imagine the sorrow that Adam and Havvah must have felt. Their sin caused them to be cast out of the garden and now one son kills the other.
Verse 9 – YHVH confronts Qayin about His sin and Qayin asks: “Am I my brother’s guard?”
And, the answer is a resounding YES! Gal 6:2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so complete the Torah of Messiah.
Verse 10 – Innocent blood is crying out from the ground: Mat 23:33 “Serpents, brood of adders! How would you escape the judgment of Gehenna?
Mat 23:34 “Because of this, see, I send you prophets, and wise men, and scholars of Scripture. Some of them you shall kill and impale, and some of them you shall flog in your congregations and persecute from city to city,
Mat 23:35 so that on you should come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Heḇel to the blood of Zekaryah, son of Berekyah, whom you murdered between the Dwelling Place and the altar.
Rev 6:9 And when He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the beings ((spirit/soul)) of those having been slain for the Word of Elohim and for the witness which they held,
Rev 6:10 and they cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Master, set-apart and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?”
Verses 11-14 The curse of Qayin: which has opened (H853) its mouth to receive your brother’s (H853) blood from your hand.
Mat 28:6 “He is not here, for He was raised, as He said. Come, see the place where the Master lay.
Mat 28:7 “And go quickly, say to His taught ones that He was raised from the dead, and see, He is going before you to Galil. There you shall see Him. See, I have told you.”
Mat 28:10 Then יהושע said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go, report to My brothers, to go to Galil, and they shall see Me there.”
Qayin was told that he would no longer be able to farm because the land would not yield anything for him.
Verse 15 uses a word for sign that we have seen before in Shemoth 13:16, Debarim 6:8; 11:18 H226 –אוֹת – ‘ôth – oth – Probably from H225 (in the sense of appearing); a signal (literally or figuratively), as a flag, beacon, monument, omen, prodigy, evidence, etc.: – mark, miracle, (en-) sign, token.
Verse 16 – In verses 12 and 14 we see that Qayin is called a fugitive and wanderer. Look at the definition of Nod – H5113 – נוד – nôd – BDB Definition: Nod = ““wandering”.
Verse 17-24 – Where did Qayin get a wife? Let’s look at the lineage of Qayin and remember YHVH has turned His face from Qayin: Hanok – H2585 – dedicated to instruction: Irad – H5897 – fugitive/fleet ; Mehuya’el – H4232 – smitten by El; Methusa’el – H4967 – who is of El; Lemek – H3929 – to be low or depressed ((Our word lament may have come for this name.))
Those dedicated to the instruction of man, fleeing the face of Elohim, will be smitten by Elohim (exterminated), asking who is of El, and will be brought low and lament over their fate.
Mat 8:12 but the sons of the reign shall be cast out into outer darkness – there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
Verse 19 – Lemek takes two wives, Adah – H5711 – ornament, adorn, and Tsillah – H6741 – shade, shadow. Please not that the one bride was an adorment an ornament and the other was a shadow or shade. What does this demonstrate to us? Lev 16:7 “And he shall take the two goats and let them stand before יהוה at the door of the Tent of Meeting.
Lev 16:8 “And Aharon shall cast lots for the two goats, one lot for יהוה and the other lot for Azazel.
This shows us that without the Urim and Tummim, Truth and the Light we will not be able to tell which is the “adorned” bride and which is the “shadow” bride.
Joh_14:6 יהושע said to him, “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Joh_8:12 Therefore יהושע spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall by no means walk in darkness, but possess the light of life.
Verse 22 – Notice Tubal-Qayin’s occupation. What clue does this give us?
Verse 25 – Adam and Havvah have Sheth – H8352 – compensation
Verse 26 – Sheth had a son, Enosh – H583 – man.
Then it was begun to call on the Name of יהוה. I want to go back and correct just the last page of this study So I left this line as it appeared in the original handout. Please look at the word for “began”: H2490 – חלל – châlal – BDB Definition: 1) to profane, defile, pollute, desecrate, begin 1a) (Niphal) 1a1) to profane oneself, defile oneself, pollute oneself 1a1a) ritually 1a1b) sexually
When does the word chalal mean to begin? When you set a wedge into a piece of wood and you use it to “begin to split the wood apart”. In other words, to separate or to drive a wedge between.
חלל = chalal = profane
הלל = halal = praise
H1984 – הלל – hâlal – BDB Definition: 1) to shine 1a) (Qal) to shine (figuratively of God’s favour) 1b) (Hiphil) to flash forth light 2) to praise, boast, be boastful ((Hallelu-yah comes for this word))
So, what is the difference between praise and profane?
ח and ה
Please look at the left leg of the two letters. One is a solid line and the other has a gap. That gap represents the fine line between profaning Yah’s name and praising Yah’s name. This is how fine the line is.
Now, in retrospect what does the meaning of the second half of verse 26? Then it was begun to call on the Name of הוה.
Then it was the beginning of profaning the name of YHVH.
Please go back to verse 22 and we see that Tubal-Qayin was a smith that worked in bronze and iron. Iron was the invention of the fallen angels, especially Azazel, and was therefore an abomination because it was used for violence/war. Tubal-Qayin learned metal working from one of the fallen angels, presumably Azazel. We see that the fallen angels were worshipped as gods. It was during this time that the name of YHVH was profaned.

In learning various languages I realized how inadequate English was for conveying emotions. The Romance Languages (Hint, Hint) seemed to have a much better capacity for emotion. Think of something very simple like, “It’s snowing.” Among the Indian Nations of New Mexico, especially the Navajo and Hope, this is funny. In their languages there are 13 different types of snow because they are much more attuned to nature.
It is said by people much more learned than I, that while learning Aramaic in Babylon and comparing it to the more primitive paleo-Hebrew, Ezra the Scribe decided that the paleo-Hebrew had too many pagan looking symbols in its vocabulary whereas Aramaic did not and at that time he began to meld Aramaic and Hebrew in order to eliminate its ties to theology. That is why translators were needed to translate the “New” Hebrew. For the residents of Jerusalem, who had not gone into captivity, could not understand Torah when Ezra read it.
Why do I say this, again? Let’s look at Verses 1&2: Gen 4:1 And Aḏam knew Ḥawwah his wife, and she conceived and bore Qayin, and said, “I have gained a man, יהוה.”
Gen 4:2 And again, she gave birth to his brother Heḇel. And Heḇel became a keeper of sheep, but Qayin became a tiller of the ground.

You might express this as: In the Beginning (Qayin) work the seed.. And, this would be very good. But look at Havvah expression to YHVH: “I have gained a man, יהוה.” The question is, “What did she expect?” Here is another possible meaning from the paleo-Hebrew: In the Beginning by the hand of the serpent.” You decide.
Qayin = H7014 = smiths.
Hebel = H1893 = breath

Look to the Shepherd’s House (or House of the Shepherd).
Look closely at the word for “and again” = H3254 – יָסַף – yâsaph -yaw-saf’ – and again, add again, continue, do again.
Quite literally what is being said is the Havvah continued in childbirth and gave birth to Hebel, twins by different fathers, also known as heteropaternal superfecundation.
Verses 3-4 – Qayin was a tiller of the ground, the occupation that Adam had been created for and Hebel became a shepherd and they each gave of their produce. Hebel’s sacrifice was accepted, completely consumed by fire and Qayin’s was not. Why? Heb 11:4 By belief, Heḇel offered to Elohim a greater slaughter offering than Qayin, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, Elohim witnessing of his gifts. And through it, having died, he still speaks.
Is not a grain offering an acceptable offering? We don’t hear of an offering for sin.
Verses 5-7 – A little better translation may be: “Why is fury with you and why do you have a fallen face?” In other words, “Why are you angry and your whole countenance fallen?”
Now, I read Verse 7 this way: You can still do your best and be accepted. And if you do not do your best then you open the door to sin. Sin (He) is deceiving you and (he) is a liar and sets its (his) desire for you and you must rule over it (him). Jas 1:15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin. And sin, when it has been accomplished, brings forth death.
Verse 8 – Whether or not Qayin told his brother in order to garner a little sympathy or to justify his rage, he killed his brother.
Verse 9 – “Am I my brother’s keeper?” Yes, we are. Absolutely. Gal 6:2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so complete the Torah of Messiah.
Mat_22:39 “And the second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’
Verse 10 – Here we see the first mention of blood in Scripture: Joh_8:44 “You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you wish to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has not stood in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks the lie, he speaks of his own, for he is a liar and the father of it.
Now, reading this verse again (John 8:44) of Scripture please read Verse 7 (Bere.) again and see which translation you prefer.
Mat 23:33 “Serpents, brood of adders! How would you escape the judgment of GěHinnom?

Verrses 11-12 – Qayin is no longer able to till the soil and now he will use his hands to build. He will be a fugitive and a wanderer.
Verse 13-14 – the Curse of Qayin. He is driven from the face of the ground, can no longer farm.
Verse 15 – There is grace in Torah. YHVH is providing protection for Qayin.
Verses 16-18 – Qayin moves east of Eden to the land of Nod. Was his wife in Nod? Or, was his wife an undisclosed sister? Qayin and his wife have a son, Hanok and Qayin built a city. For 3 people? Gen 4:18 And to Ḥanoḵ was born Iraḏ. Where did Hanok find a wife?
Verse 19-24 – Qayin’s grandson, Lemek, took two wives. Where did they come from? Where are all of these women coming from?
Verse 26 – This verse is very important in that it is badly translated. Then it was begun to call on the Name of יהוה.
The word used for begun is: H2490 – חלל – châlal – BDB Definition: 1) to profane, defile, pollute, desecrate, begin. It can also mean to prostitute, slay, kill, violate, treat as common. The meaning here is not to proclaim the Name of YHVH it is to profane the Name of YHVH. How did this happen. We are only two or three generations from the garden of Eden so, how could this happen?
Exo 34:12 “Guard yourself, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you are going, lest it be a snare in your midst.
Exo 34:13 “But break down their slaughter-places, and smash their pillars, and cut down their Ashěrim –
Exo 34:14 for you do not bow yourselves to another mighty one, for יהוה, whose Name is jealous, is a jealous Ěl –
Exo 34:15 lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they whore after their mighty ones, and slaughter to their mighty ones, and one of them invites you and you eat of his slaughterings,
Exo 34:16 and you take of his daughters for your sons, and his daughters whore after their mighty ones, and make your sons whore after their mighty ones.
Num 25:1 And Yisra’ěl dwelt in Shittim, and the people began to whore with the daughters of Mo’aḇ,
