Verses 1-2 – Enter in jealousy: Pro 27:4 Wrath is cruel and displeasure overwhelming, But who is able to stand before jealousy?
We now see that Ya’aqob has prospered and Laban has not and now Laban’s sons accuse Ya’aqob of stealing their father’s wealth.
Verse 3 – YHVH speaks to Ya’aqob and tells him it is time to go home and assures him that He is with Ya’aqob.
Verses 4-16 – We see Ya’aqob preparing his wives for the journey and in doing so we see bitterness on the part of the sisters toward their father. They rightly point out their father sold them to Ya’aqob as payment for his labor for 14 years. Evidently, with the blessings turning toward Ya’aqob instead of Laban, Laban had to spend the silver that would have been the daughters silver so they did not have an inheritance. Just like Rahel and Leah we have recognized we no longer have an inheritance in the church and have come out of the church and crossed over the river and have left the inheritance of our father: Jer 16:19 O יהוה, my strength and my stronghold and my refuge, in the day of distress the gentiles shall come to You from the ends of the earth and say, “Our fathers have inherited only falsehood, futility, and there is no value in them.”
Verses 17-18&20 – What exactly was the tradition inPaddan Aram I do not know but according to Torah Jacob could not take his wives or children with him, nor even his flocks. This may have been the reason that Ya’aqob left they way he did: Exo 21:3 “If he comes in by himself, he goes out by himself; if he comes in married, then his wife shall go out with him.
Exo 21:4 “If his master has given him a wife, and she has borne him sons or daughters, the wife and her children are her master’s, and he goes out by himself.
Verse 19 – I think has a very powerful lesson for us. The word for “household idols” is H8655 –תְּרָפִים – terâphı̂ym – ter-aw-feme‘- Plural perhaps from H7495; a healer; Teraphim (singular or plural) a family idol: – idols (-atry), images. What is, perhaps, the number one household idol, or image or Asherah(Asherim), thought to be a healer today? Why would Rahel take them for her father’s house?
Verse 21 – “crossed over” – H5674 – עָבַר – ‛âbar – aw-bar‘ – A primitive root; to cross over;
This is the root word for Hebrew and also the root for the patriarch of Abraham, ‘Eber. We have to leave behind us all the Greek, i.e. words, names, definitions, ideas and concepts and take on the new identity on the other side of the river. ((What does water represent in prophecy/Scripture?))
Verse 24 & 29 – “The Elohim of your father”
Verse 30 – “Why did you steal my “mighty ones”? H430 – אֱלֹהִים – ‘ĕlôhı̂ym – el-o-heem’ – Plural of H433; gods in the ordinary sense; but specifically used (in the plural thus, especially with the article) of the supreme God;
Do you see now why YHVH is jealous for His Name? Because the god of the world, god, has the same name as God. No, our El is the Most High El and He has a Name and His Name is YHVH, not god.
Exo 20:7 “You do not bring the Name of יהוה your Elohim to naught, for יהוה does not leave the one unpunished who brings His Name to naught.
For far too many years I brought His Name to naught and I cannot even plead ignorance. I knew better. YHVH is not a generic god, one god fits all, god. He is the Most High and as we learned in Psalms 82 the generic gods will all die just like men.
Verse 38 – Is this a clue to Jer. 30:7?
Verse 44 – 55 – Covenant. A standing column, heap of stones, ate a meal, a witness., slaughtered an animal, ate bread. Covenants were entered into with the explicit understanding that the one who violated the covenant would die.

This chapter is very heavy on interpersonal relationships and the dynamics of the same. We can almost see the ol’ fox. Laban’s, eyes light up with joy after “talking” Ya’aqob into staying with him even longer in exchange for the herds increase of the black, spotted, speckled and striped lambs and goats. In the interim we see Ya’aqob’s increase exponentially but not so with Laban’s flocks. Now, Ya’aqob is viewed with suspicion and also envy or jealousy.
The dynamic at play here is that when other people have power over you the last thing that they want you to do is to become self-reliant, self-sustainable. Why? Because you no longer need their self-perceived power over you and then, you have become a threat to them. You may take away their security, sustainability, self-reliance or, at the very least, their self-esteem.
The “church” has a habit of doing this. Have you ever visited a new congregation and you could almost see them drool over you, that is until they learn your beliefs. Once they realize that they cannot change your core beliefs to match their doctrine, they will probably show you the door and, don’t let it hit you as you go out.

We now see that Ya’aqob has prospered and Laban has not and now Laban’s sons accuse Ya’aqob of stealing their father’s wealth. He could look at Laban’s face and see that he did not like him anymore.
Verse 3 – YHVH speaks to Ya’aqob and tells him it is time to go home and assures him that He is with Ya’aqob.
Verses 4-10 – We see Ya’aqob preparing his wives for the journey and recounting his relationship with his father-in-law.
Verses 11-13 Ya’aqob recounts to the sisters how YHVH spoke to him about the lambs and goats and reveals that it was YHVH’s plan to prosper Ya’aqob. Let’s go back and examine some of the things that may have occurred in Ya’aqob following YHVH’s Torot – Instructions:
The 3 types of trees that were used to construct the RODS(?) – H4731 – maqqel:((Anything?))
H3839 – לִבְנֶה – libneh – lib-neh‘ – poplar ((Begins with a lamed – l))
H3869 – לוּז – lûz – looz – almond ((Begins with a lamed – l))
H6196 – עַרְמוֹן – ‛armôn – ar-mone‘ –the plane tree – chestnut ((Begins with an ‘ayin – o))
You guys know me well enough that you know I want to shout this out but, you tell me what you see.
Imagine a young lad growing up in the shop of his father, who was a carpenter, watching as his father worked a piece of wood to make it true, with his plane, so that it would fit the next piece perfectly. It takes a good eye to recognize what is true – plane. To recognize true you must have a good measure of true and a good eye for true: Amo 7:7 This is what He showed me, and see, יהוה stood on a wall made with a plumb-line, with a plumb-line in His hand, Amo 7:8 and יהוה said to me, “Amos, what do you see?” And I said, “A plumb-line.” And יהוה said, “See, I am setting a plumb-line in the midst of My people Yisra’ěl, no longer do I pardon them.
Amo 7:9 “And the high places of Yitsḥaq shall be laid waste, and the set-apart places of Yisra’ěl shall be destroyed. And I shall rise with the sword against the house of Yaroḇ‛am.”
What was the plumb-line that was set in the midst of His people? Go back to the very first Revelation study, what is the name of the central position of the menorah? It has three names, what are they?
Ya’aqob stripped the bark off the rods and exposed the white underneath the bark: Mat 17:1 And after six days יהושע took Kěpha, and Ya‛aqoḇ, and Yoḥanan his brother, and brought them up on a high mountain by themselves,
Mat 17:2 and He was transformed before them, and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became as white as the light.
Probably just a coincidence. ((Okay, at this point I have already completed the study and have wrestled with myself about what to and not to say and I want to come back to this point and just have to show you one more thing about what Ya’aqob did and the importance it should have for us.)) This deals with the Hebrew word used for “exposed” in Bere. 30:37 is: H4286 – מחשׂף – machśôph – BDB Definition:1) a stripping, a laying bare From H2834.
Isa 52:10 יהוה shall lay bare (H853) His set-apart arm (which arm is set-apart?) in the eyes of all the nations (Gentiles/pagans). And all the ends of the earth shall see the deliverance (H3444) of our Elohim. The word used for “lay bare” is the root word for machsoph – H2834 – chasaph

Remember, Rahel and Leah were wages, not a woman given as a wife by the master and the flocks were also negotiated wages not just an increase for the master.

Remember what we have learned from Sha’ul in his epistle to the Galatians: Gal 3:15 Brothers, as a man I say it: a covenant, even though it is man’s, yet if it is confirmed, no one sets it aside, or adds to it.
Gal 3:16 But the promises were spoken to Aḇraham, and to his Seed. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many, but as of one, “And to your Seed,” who is Messiah.
Gal 3:17 Now this I say, Torah, that came four hundred and thirty years later, does not annul a covenant previously confirmed by Elohim in Messiah, so as to do away with the promise.
If you take nothing else from this study today, take this; Torah is not the Law, it is the instructions needed to have a fruitful relationship with our Father and Creator and it cannot be set aside (dispensationalism) for any reason or any time nor, can it be done away with or transferred to any other entity, i.e. the “church”. It is forever and we will keep it in the Renewed Creation (Rev. 21:1)
Rev 21:1 And I saw a renewed heaven and a renewed earth, for the former heaven and the former earth had passed away, and the sea is no more.
Isa 65:17 “For look, I am creating new heavens and a new earth, and the former shall not be remembered, nor come to heart.
Isa 66:22 “For as the new heavens and the new earth that I make stand before Me,” declares יהוה, “so your seed and your name shall stand.
The words translated as new and underlined above are in fact the same word “hadasha” or “chadasha” which means ‘renew or to make fresh or new’.
How do I know we will keep Torah in eternity? Zec 14:16 And it shall be that all who are left from all the nations which came up against Yerushalayim, shall go up from year to year to bow themselves to the Sovereign, יהוה of hosts, and to celebrate the Festival of Sukkot.
Zec 14:17 And it shall be, that if anyone of the clans of the earth does not come up to Yerushalayim to bow himself to the Sovereign, יהוה of hosts, on them there is to be no rain.
Why would we celebrate a festival that was done away with if, Torah was truly done away with?
