Bereshith (Genesis) 11 — “One language and one speech”

Verse 1 – Having one language and one speech sounds great. Think of how easy it would be to travel to foreign lands and to be understood by everyone. It would certainly put Berlitz and Rosetta Stone out of business. In fact, the Rosetta Stone was on the “badge” we wore at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, Cal. while I was there, shortly after the Earth cooled and dinosaurs roamed the Earth. Remember too, one of the attributes given to Joseph was that he spoke all 70 languages of the Earth.

Verse 2 – It sounds confusing “as they set out for the East” but it is just the relative position of the writer. Moshe was west of the land of Eden/Mt. Ararat so he is giving a relative point: H6924 – קדמה / קדם – qedem / qêdmâh – BDB Definition: 1) east, antiquity, front, that which is before, aforetime (noun masculine) 1a) front, from the front or east, in front, mount of the East

Verse 3 – “And they had brick for stone”. What do bricks symbolize? Man’s creation, also slavery.

Exo_1:14  and they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in mortar, and in brick, and in all kinds of work in the field, all their work which they made them do was with harshness.

Exo 5:6  And the same day Pharaoh commanded the slave-drivers of the people and their foremen, saying,

Exo 5:7  “You are no longer to give the people straw to make bricks as before. Let them go and gather straw for themselves.

Brick and cut stone are unacceptable for the building of YHVH’s altars. Brick is made by the hand of man not Yah and cut stone is defiled by the use of iron tools: Exo 20:25  ‘And if you make Me an altar of stone, do not build it of cut stone, for if you use your chisel on it, you have profaned it.

Verse 4 – “and make a name for ourselves”. Instead of worshipping YHVH let us worship ourselves. “Lest we be scattered over all the face of the Earth”. In other words they knew that there was a punishment for turning their praise and worship of YHVH to themselves. They may have been warned by Noah or Shem of the consequences of their actions, both of whom are still alive at this time.

Verse 5-7 – “Then יהוה came down”. Did YHVH really set foot on Earth? No. He sent one of His messengers in His Name. Actually, YHVH sent 2 or three messengers in His Name like he did in Bereshith 18. Why 2 or 3?

“Let us go there”. The use of the plural would indicate that there are more than just 1 messenger but I also found a disagreement for the verb used in this passage. One is H3381 – ירד – yârad – BDB Definition: 1) to go down, descend, decline, march down, sink down

and the other is: H3212 – ילך – yâlak – BDB Definition:1) to go, walk, come

Verse 8 – YHVH scattered them over the Earth and they did not finish building their city unto themselves. Why?

Verse 9 – Babel was called Babel because of the confusion of languages: H894 – בּבל – bâbel – BDB Definition: Babel or Babylon = “confusion (by mixing)”

Confusion by mixing. Isn’t that interesting.

Rev 17:4  And the woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, holding in her hand a golden cup filled with abominations and the filthiness of her whoring,

Rev 17:5  and upon her forehead a name written, a secret: BABEL THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF THE WHORES AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

What has Christianity done but to mix Yah’s Word with aspects of the Mystery Babylon religion. The religion of Nimrod – Tammuz.

“Come out of her My people”

The word used for language is H8193 – שָפָה – safah and the word used for speech is H1697 דְבָרִּיםַ – debar(im) word, speech in the plural. This is the same word for Deuteronomy – Debarim. Torah is the Word of YHVH =   יהוה   דָבָרַ – Dabar YHVH – Rev 19:12 And His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns, having a Name that had been written, which no one had perceived except Himself –

Rev 19:13 and having been dressed in a robe dipped in blood – and His Name is called: The Word of יהוה.

((Use the map cautiously. Modern excavations are proving this map to be more wishful or fanciful thinking than fact.))

The word used for brick is H3840 – “libnah” – לִּבְנָהַ – brick or tile but that is not all, it also has the context of showing toil and futility of human effort.

Remember why?

1 Enoch 8.1(a) And Azazel taught men to make swords, and daggers, and shields, and breastplates.

Azazel taught man how to spill innocent blood more easily with iron swords and daggers.

Man was aware that this was sin and would be dealt with just as we now know that our sin will be dealt with. They did not want to be scattered over the earth and this is in direct contrast to the command which YHVH had given Noah and his sons: Gen 9:7 “As for you, be fruitful and increase, bring forth teemingly in the earth and increase in it.”

Everything we are reading is about man establishing the rules for what and who he wants to worship and how. A manmade religion built around a manmade edifice with man at the center of it in defiance of YHVH’s Commands: Pro 14:11 The house of the wrong is destroyed, But the tent of the straight flourishes.

Let’s stop and take note than man is in unity with all mankind here: Psa 133:1 See how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity –

The problem here is that the unity of mankind should be in the worship of the One True Elohim – YHVH El Shaddai! Unity is a good thing when it is according to Yah’s Word but this false unity in the faith in mankind alone was not good, in fact it was evil and brought about a curse.

Verse 5-7 – “Then יהוה came down”. Did YHVH really set foot on Earth filled with sin? No. He sent one of His messengers in His Name. Actually, YHVH sent 2 or three messengers in His Name like he did in Bereshith 18. Why 2 or 3? Deu_17:6 “At the mouth of two or three witnesses shall he that is to die be put to death. He is not put to death by the mouth of one witness.

One day YHVH will retore the correct order in man’s worship and mankind will unite in the worship of YHVH and at that time YHVH will restore us back to one language: Zep 3:8 “Therefore wait for Me,” declares יהוה, “until the day I rise up for plunder. For My judgment is to gather nations, to assemble reigns, to pour out on them My rage, all My burning wrath. For by the fire of My jealousy all the earth shall be consumed.

Zep 3:9 “For then I shall turn unto the peoples a clean lip, so that they all call on the Name of יהוה, to serve Him with one shoulder. ((Once again H8193 – lip or language))

What has Christianity done but to mix Yah’s Word with aspects of the Mystery Babylon religion. The religion of Nimrod – Tammuz. Most of the world has repudiated YHVH’s command of keeping the Sabbath and instead has substituted man’s worship on Sunday. Baptists, Methodists, Pentecostals and all the “reformers” protested and formed Protestantism but still kept the commands of the Roman Catholic Church Sunday worship, Easter, Christmas, etc. rather than keep the Commands of Elohim. Babel all over again. Is man still building towers? You bet:

Man still has to have his tower to his god rather than follow YHVH’s Word and serve YHVH as He asks to be served. Isn’t it amazing how stubborn mankind can be and how hardhearted and stiffnecked mankind has become. Why not keep the Commands in Leviticus 23 and serve Him as He asks? I do not know why I could not see it for so long and when it dawned on me that I was not worshipping my Creator but rather man’s creation, I was afraid. I felt like Adam and Havvah in the Garden of Eden. I knew I had been naked all this time and didn’t know. I realized what was meant by this rebuke: Rev 3:17 “Because you say, ‘Rich I am, and I am made rich, and need none at all,’ and do not know that you are wretched, and pitiable, and poor, and blind, and naked.

I was the epitome of Laodikeia and didn’t even know it. There was much weeping and repenting. Have you ever almost made a mistake that could have resulted in your death and after you see it revealed to you, you begin to tremble and shake uncontrollably? That is how I felt. I realized that everthything Ihad done up to that point was futile because it was not what YHVH wanted from me. I was terrified. “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.
