Bereshith (Genesis) 1 — The plan of Salvation in Creation

Lesson date: 10/28/5854AA

Verse 1 – Gen 1:1 בראשׁית ברא אלהים את השׁמים ואת הארץ׃

בראשׁית = Bereshith

b = tent, house

r = head

=  strong leader, one who goes forward

s = eat, meditate, destroy

i = work, deed, strong arm, work of the hand

t = mark, sign, covenant

“The Son of the strong leader (El) goes forward to destruction (death) by His own hand to the cross.”

As you know the B in Bereshith is a prefix that is added to mean “in” and that leaves us with

 “Reshith”:H7225 – רֵאשִׁית – rê’shı̂yth – ray-sheeth’ – From the same as H7218; the first, in place, time, order or rank (specifically a firstfruit): – beginning, chief (-est), first (-fruits, part, time), principal thing.

 1Co_15:20  But now Messiah has been raised from the dead, and has become the first-fruit of those having fallen asleep.

When you put  r b together you get bar: Mat 16:17  And יהושע answering, said to him, “Blessed are you, Shimʽon Bar-Yonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father in the heavens.

Bar-Yonah means the son of Yonah. Now add the aleph which means a strong leader and also represents Elohim, El. These three together tell us the Son of Elohim. Look at the blue highlighted word in the Hebrew Gen. 1:1. It is the beyt, resh, and aleph which spells H1254בָּרָאbârâ’ – baw-raw’ – A primitive root; (absolutely) to create; (qualified) to cut down (a wood), select, feed (as formative processes): – choose, create (creator), cut down, dispatch, do, make (fat).

Do you see what this word is saying? The Son of Elohim created: Joh 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with Elohim, and the Word was Elohim.

Joh 1:2  He was in the beginning with Elohim.

Joh 1:3  All came to be through Him, and without Him not even one came to be that came to be.

When we look at the word for create in Hebrew we see the picture of Yeshua, the Son of Elohim. Also, when we look at Ber. 1:1 we see seven words. In these seven words we see the coming of the Messiah. Look at the phrase and notice the two words that are highlighted in yellow, they are Aleph-Tav and also Vav-Aleph-Tav. The only part that is translated is the Vav and it means “and”. The Aleph-Tav shows that Yeshua will come in the fourth millenia and “and” shows that He will come again at the end of the sixth millenia. The entire plan of salvation in seven words in the first book of Torah. Do we really want to throw this book away and forget it?

2Pe 3:8  But, beloved ones, let not this one matter be hidden from you: that with יהוה one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Verses 1-2 – ((Please note: My opinion)) This is separate from verse 1 and also separate from verse 2. You might call it an aside. Look at Verse 2 and you will see that the “Earth came to be” or “became” formless and empty. To me this indicates that it was not originally formless and empty, so what happened?

 Isa 45:18  For thus said יהוה, Creator of the heavens, He is Elohim, Former of earth and its Maker, He established it, He did not create it to be empty, He formed it to be inhabited: “I am יהוה, and there is none else.

I believe that at this time there was another Creation and this is the Time in which there was a rebellion in the heavens and it had to be destroyed: Jer 4:22  “For My people are foolish, they have not known Me. They are stupid children, and they have no understanding. They are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.”

Jer 4:23  I looked at the earth, and saw it was formless and empty. And the heavens, they had no light.

Jer 4:24  I looked at the mountains, and saw they shook, and all the hills were swaying.

Jer 4:25  I looked, and saw there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens had fled.

Jer 4:26  I looked, and saw the garden land was a wilderness, and all its cities were broken down at the presence of יהוה, by His burning displeasure.

The two words for formless and empty/void are: H8414 – תֹּהוּ – tôhû – to’-hoo – From an unused root meaning to lie waste; a desolation (of surface), that is, desert; figuratively a worthless thing; adverbially in vain: – confusion, empty place, without form, nothing, (thing of) nought, vain, vanity, waste, wilderness.

And: H922 – בֹּהוּ – bôhû – bo’-hoo – From an unused root (meaning to be empty); a vacuity, that is, (superficially) an undistinguishable ruin: – emptiness, void.

Bohu is only used three times in scripture and always with Tohu but Tohu is used about 20 times in scripture, 17 times without Bohu.

When YHVH is warning Yehudah that He is going to destroy them in Yirmeyahu He is reminding them of what He did “in the beginning”. I could present more evidence but it is all secular and I will leave it at that.

OR, you can believe that YHVH created the Earth and it was incomplete so He later had to complete it.

Verse 2 – The Spirit of Elohim – Is this the Ruach Hakodesh or is it Yeshua or is it YHVH Himself since everything has been renewed and is once again without sin He can now move upon the Earth? I do not know but I suspect the latter: Joh 4:24  “Elohim is Spirit, and those who worship Him need to worship in spirit and truth.”

Verse 3-5 – This is not the sun, not yet. But what is it? Psa 119:130  The opening up of Your words gives light, Giving understanding to the simple.

Rev 21:23  And the city had no need of the sun, nor of the moon, to shine in it, for the esteem of Elohim lightened it, and the Lamb is its lam

Psa 119:105  Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.

This is the very “esteem” of Elohim that we see many times in Scripture. This esteem caused Mosheh’s face to glow.

Joh 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with Elohim, and the Word was Elohim.

Joh 1:2  He was in the beginning with Elohim.

Joh 1:3  All came to be through Him, and without Him not even one came to be that came to be.

Joh 1:4  In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

Joh 1:5  And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Who is the esteem of Elohim? Mal 1:6  “A son esteems his father, and a servant his master. And if I am the Father, where is My esteem? And if I am a Master, where is My fear? said יהוה of hosts to you priests who despise My Name. But you asked, ‘In what way have we despised Your Name?’

Mat_16:27  “For the Son of Adam is going to come in the esteem of His Father with His messengers, and then He shall reward each according to his works.

“Aor” or light is spelled the following way in pictographic Hebrew:

A         = strong leader, strength, El

f         = tent peg, to hold, secure

r         = head, leader, chief, top, beginning

El is secured to our head (and that is the beginning).

When we see the “light” that is the beginning: Deu_11:18  ‘And you shall lay up these Words of Mine in your heart and in your being, and shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. ((Secured to your head))

And, the word for darkness: H2822 – חֹשֶׁךְ – chôshek – kho-shek’ – From H2821; the dark; hence (literally) darkness; figuratively misery, destruction, death, ignorance, sorrow, wickedness: – dark (-ness), night, obscurity.

1Jn_1:5  And this is the message which we have heard from Him and announce to you, that Elohim is light and in Him is no darkness at all.

Notice that in Creation time is marked from evening to morning and no other way.

Lev 23:32  ‘It is a Sabbath of rest to you, and you shall afflict your beings. On the ninth day of the month at evening, from evening to evening, you observe your Sabbath.”

Verses 6-8 – Day Two – Expanse = H7549 – רָקִיעַ – râqı̂ya‛– raw-kee’-ah -From H7554; properly an expanse, that is, the firmament or (apparently) visible arch of the sky: – firmament.

We have talked about this expanse and how it shows us that there was another layer of water over the Earth. The function of that layer is not known, exactly, but it enabled early man to live to great ages by blocking the UV radiation from the sun. It is also this layer of water that fell to the Earth as rain in the flood.

Verses 9-13 – Day Three – Look at the word “seas”: H3220 – יָם – yâm – yawm

I         = strong arm, right hand, work, throw, worship

m         = water, chaos, blood, mighty

His Right Arm subdues chaos: Pro_30:4  Who has gone up to the heavens and come down? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has bound the waters in a garment? Who established all the ends of the earth? What is His Name, And what is His Son’s Name, If you know it?

Verses 14-19 – Day Four – Time begins, as we know it: “and let them be for signs and appointed times, and for days and years”

Signs – H226 – אוֹת – ‘ôth – oth -means a flag, signal, monument, a sign:

Exo 12:13  ‘And the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I shall pass over you, and let the plague not come on you to destroy you when I smite the land of Mitsrayim.

Appointed Times – H4150 –מוֹעָדָה  מֹעֵד  מוֹעֵד – mô‛êd mô‛êd mô‛âdâh – mo-ade’, mo-ade’, mo-aw-daw’ means appointment, appointed times, seasons, festival

Days – H3117 – יוֹם – yôm – yome – from one sunset to the next, warm or hot (as in daylight hours) it can also mean “age”.

Years – H8141 – שָׁנָה  שָׁנֶה – shâneh shânâh – shaw-neh’, shaw-naw’ – year, age, revolution of time

Verses 20-23 – Day Five – “great sea creatures” = H8577 – תַּנִּים  תַּנִּיןtannı̂yn tannı̂ymtan-neen’, tan-neem’ – Land or marine monster, sea serpent, dragon. Are we being told about the dinosaurs here?

Eze 29:3  “Speak, and you shall say, ‘Thus said the Master יהוה, “See, I am against you, O Pharaoh sovereign of Mitsrayim, O great monster who lies in the midst of his rivers, who has said, ‘My River is my own, and I, I have made it for myself.’

Psa 74:13  You divided the sea by Your might; You broke the heads of the sea serpents in the waters.

Isa 27:1  In that day יהוה with His severe sword, great and strong, punishes Liwiathan the fleeing serpent, Liwiathan that twisted serpent. And He shall slay the monster that is in the sea.

Verses 24-31 – Day Six – WATCH OUT: This is my Opinion: H6213 – עָשָׂה – ‛âśâh – aw-saw’ – A primitive root; to do or make,

Please notice the distinction between verse 26 and Ber. 2:7. The word used in 2:7 is: H3335יָצַרyâtsaryaw-tsar’ – this word means to squeeze into a shape, like a potter does clay, to mold into a form

I believe that this represents to different groups of people; the people of the world and YHVH’s people. The people of the world were created and YHVH’s people were formed. Here is another clue: Gen 4:16  So Qayin went out from the presence of יהוה and dwelt in the land of Nod on the east of Ěden.

Gen 4:17  And Qayin knew his wife, and she conceived and bore Hanok. And he built a city, and called the name of the city after the name of his son, Hanok.

Why did Qayin build a city for just him and his wife? Oops! Where did he get a wife?

Verse 28 – The first command – Be fruitful and multiply, fill the Earth. It does not say “Practice birth control”, in fact birth control is an abomination: Gen 38:9  And Onan knew that the offspring would not be his. And it came to be, when he went in to his brother’s wife, that he spilled on the ground, lest he should give an offspring to his brother.

Gen 38:10  But what he did displeased יהוה, so He took his life too.

Verse 31 – It was Very Good!

Lesson date: 01/13/5858AA (slightly updated version of the above)

Today I did something I do not usually do, I reused the notes from the last time we read Bereshith which was 3.5 years ago. I did change a couple of things, except the blue box around the paleo Aleph. Aggravating. As you read these notes PLEASE NOTICE I have things that are strictly my opinion and have labeled them as such. I’m not going to beat anyone up until they believe what I have written. Call it “Food for Thought”.

Let’s look at Bereshith Chapter 1, Verse 1, Word 1 and see how the Plan of Salvation is found in this word:

Verse 1 – Gen 1:1 בראשׁית ברא אלהים את השׁמים ואת הארץ׃

These are the Seven Words! Each word represents 1,000 yrs.

בראשׁית = Bereshith

b         = tent, house

r         = head

     =  strong leader, one who goes forward

s         = eat, meditate, destroy

i         = work, deed, strong arm, work of the hand

t         = mark, sign, covenant

“The Son of the strong leader (El) goes forward to destruction (death) by His own hand to the cross.”

As you know the B in Bereshith is a prefix that is added to mean “in” and that leaves us with H7225 – ראשׁית – rê’shı̂yth – BDB Definition: 1) first, beginning, best, chief 1a) beginning 1b) first 1c) chief 1d) choice part

Bar-Yonah means the son of Yonah, in Aramaic ((The equivalent of Ben in Hebrew)).
