No, this has nothing to do with the rock group KISS although, I did enjoy their song “Who Wants To Live Forever, Without You” [[Editor’s Note: I think Cyrus actually means this song by Queen]]
No, this study is about that daily act, hopefully daily and much more often, that we perform with our loved ones, our mates, children and family members.
Why would you kiss someone?
- Love;
- Affection;
- Intimacy;
- Respect;
- Acknowledgement;
- Gratitude;
- Confirmation;
- Betrayal: what?
Why would you kiss someone to betray them? Mat 26:48 And he who was delivering Him up gave them a sign, saying, “Whomever I kiss, it is He, seize Him.”
Mat 26:49 And going straight up to יהושע he said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed Him.
Mar 14:44 And the one who was delivering Him up had given them a signal, saying, “Whomever I kiss, it is He – seize Him and lead Him away safely.”
Mar 14:45 And coming, going straight up to Him, he said to Him, “Rabbi, Rabbi!” and kissed Him.
I do not believe that Judas was capable of loving anyone, perhaps not even himself. I believe he was miserable most of the time and only enjoyed life as could be bought with money. That is just my idea since I have known people that know no happiness in life without money or because of the fear of losing it.
What could have possessed Judas to do what he did? Satan obviously, but why use a kiss? The answer actually can be found in the above list and it is Number 7, Confirmation. What was Judas confirming? Let’s look and see: Mat 2:2 saying, “Where is He who has been born Sovereign of the Yehuḏim? For we saw His star in the East and have come to do reverence to Him.”
Mat_27:11 And Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And Jesus said unto him, Thou sayest.
Mat_27:29 And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!
Mat_27:37 And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
As you know there are many more such quotes but what does this have to do with Yeshu’a?
1Sa 10:1 And Shemu’ěl took a flask of oil and poured it on his head, and kissed him and said, “Is it not because יהוה has anointed you leader over His inheritance?
What Inheritance could that be? (BrenLXX) Deu 32:8 When the Most High divided the nations, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the nations according to the number of the angels of God.
Deu 32:9 And his people Jacob became the portion of the Lord, Israel was the line of his inheritance.
Isn’t odd that the very person who betrayed Yeshu’a and the very act of betrayal itself was confirming that Yeshu’a was in fact the King Of YHVH’s people, His Inheritance, Yisra’el: Mat_10:6 but rather go to the lost sheep of the house of Yisra’ěl.
Mat_15:24 And He answering, said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Yisra’ěl.”
Even a greedy, and I believe shallow, betrayer possessed by Satan could not help but to confirm the fact that Yeshu’a is indeed the King of Kings: Psa_2:12 Kiss the Chosen*, lest He be enraged, And you perish in the way, For soon His wrath is to be kindled. Blessed are all those taking refuge in Him.
